WOW! This has been a crazy eye-opener. You can become a software developer with only an undergrad degree, and make as much as a Canadian ortho 4 or 5 years into your career.

This absolutely angers me, you guys deserve more than what you get. That’s not very much money at all.

Doctors and surgeons 'incorporate' themselves...this is a clever tax break, where these medical professions pay the SAME RATE AS SOMEONE MAKING 10-15% OF WHAT THEY MAKE. Yeah, that guy who works at a factory and makes $40000 a year and a doctor in Ontario who made $400000 a year...PAY THE SAME TAX RATE. Also, they can write expenses of during taxes, further reducing what they pay. Oh, doctor notes etc...that's 100% profit for the doctors. OHIP doesn't pay that. So if a doc says that signature or that paper to be signed will cost $100...that's pure profit. And most doctors don't have many overheads because they either rent out a space in a medical building, along with other doctors, therefore, sharing in the costs or they refer out examinations etc, to avoid costs.

As for this doctor, he went to university and medical school from 1986 to 2006. 20 years...yikes. My cousin got his medical degree from the University of Toronto. He's a doctor in California. If you want to make the most money as a doctor...open your practice in the states. You make much more than a doctor in Canada.

Also, if you are a black person, wanting to be a doctor or surgeon, it's easier now than ever. Some universities are incorporating 'affirmative action' type changes, to help with very low black students in medical school. So if your marks aren't competitive OR you need that foot in the door, these changes benefit you. Sorry my Asian, South Asian and Caucasian friends...you guys need to work your butt off and compete with the rest of the crowd. So special consideration for you guys...unless you protest and complain or start doing badly on your admission tests.

There are not all the doctors rich but all the doctors are reputable and respectable. Doctor= leader/teacher, but beeing a leader and a teacher is not always a profitable or pleasant experience unfortunately .

I mean if u go into medicine for the money - you have it all wrong anyway. But ppl also need to stop pretending that MDs are not doing very well compared to most of the population.

Doctors make money but being a doctor because they make good money is absurd, if you’re a smart fella there’s a lot of easier ways to make more money. But surgeons are among the richest because they help people get better

Thank you for doing what you do. Universal healthcare should be for ALL Canadians, healthcare professionals included.

Watching this was a good insight. I want to do orthopedics in the US here. It didn’t scare me, just told me to make sure I see 60- 80 patients a day. Work ethic has to be good. Try to get one call a weekend per month in contract and no change on RVU’s. Hopefully get in a area with little to no competition.

I think if you fixing a human body by any way, you deserve far better than any blue collar job.. doctor and engineers even if they earn well they are working most of the time... unless they enjoy their work , they barely get to enjoy the life...these professions are very different from just being a you Tuber... that you make 1 upload in a month and it get sufficient views to make your living... sorry for the rant..
