Grand Evening | Royals Even Series in L.A.

Seth Lugo took the mound in L.A. looking to continue his great start to the season and turned in another quality start, striking out 4 over 6.0 innings and allowing just a pair of runs. Nick Loftin got the Royals on the board first with an RBI ground out but the Royals entered the 6th inning trailing by a run. With the bases loaded, MJ Melendez stepped in ready to battle, working a 12-pitch at-bat and coming away victorious with his first career grand slam to put the Royals ahead. Bobby Witt Jr. and Nelson Velázquez would add on RBIs of their own and the bullpen shut everything down as John Schreiber, Sam Long, and Nick Anderson tossed a combined 3.0 shutout innings to preserve the lead and pull the series vs. the Dodgers even.
