The real kapsalon was invited in Rotterdam. There was a Döner kebab shop tel aviv. WHO had a Barber as customer. Hé ordered every friday a diner with fries shoarma, melted cheese and salad in one box. And Barber is in dutch kapper, barbershop is kapsalon. And a new menu was Born in 2004 in Rotterdam El aviva Rotterdam Delfshaven . They stil exist

Phil, like vla? Try HOPJESVLA (sadly kangaroo free 😜). Normal vla packs are 1 L but for some reason the hopjesvla only seems to come in 0.5 L cartons. 😮‍💨

The story about the Kapsalon comes from Rotterdam, where the entire dish originated from. Basically invented by a guy who ran a "kapsalon", hence the name.

We normally sprinkle one bread and then fold it together and press it with our palms.
For some reason which I can't explain it tastes better then how you do it with 2 pieces of bread

Vla is just cold custard. I drink it out of the pack but most people eat it with a spoon.
Kapsalon comes from Rotterdam. A "kapsalon" is a hairdresser and a haidressers shop would order this all the time and doner kebab shop ended up adopting the name "kapsalon" which caught on and is sold throughout the Netherlands

I like the bamischijf as well, long time ago. Mostly when i go to a snackbar, close to the only working polder windmill of Amsterdam is not a snack but a "broodje gezond" that is literally called in English "bread health". Maybe you can try that as well

isnt the donner box the industrialised version of a kapsalon.....i feel like they started popping up 5 to 10 years after turkish pizza, donners and kapsalons took of in the netherlands... could be entirely wrong here tho.

The carrots and mash potato dish has a specific name as well, it's 'Hutspot'. Funny enough it's not something that came from The Netherlands but (if legend is to be believed) after the siege on Delft by the Spanish, the sieging troops had to retreat and the people from the city who swarmed out to reclaim stuff found this in a cookpot :D

Go to kamphuizen. That is a stroopwafelshop in Gouda but they make ther stroopwafels at a diffrent way. I like it more than normal stroopwafels.

The hutspot is originally a Spanish menu. The Dutch normally eat it with a meatball or sausage. Not both at the same time

Vla is ussualy eaten as a simple dessert. Its put in a (small) bowl and eaten with a spoon. I dont know about other people, but I ate it a lot when I was a kid (25 years ago). Not shure if it's as popular as it used to be. I certainly never eat it anymore.

I love Boeren kaas = Farmers cheese. It is made of raw milk and is soft and flavorful. There is a range from young to old. The ranges in dutch: Jong, jong belegen, belegen, extra belegen, oud.

Yes love stampot with gravy and rookworst. So nice with cold weather. I would make one and add cheese to the stampot so the cheese melts in there. 💛

Could try pannenkoeken. They have crazy variety in restaurants but at home we add powder sugar on top or sirop or bake them with thin slices of apple and than add powder sugar or bake them with cheese / ham or add some veggies to it.

We also eat white asparagus when in season with a butter sauce, egg, ham and small potatoes.

First of all, Love your video's! I like "broodje hagelslag" the most with bread from the bakery, fresh White bread or "witte bolletjes". Not the bread you guys used🙈🙈 its also reeeaaally good with peanutbutter(pindakaas&hagelslag) !! 💕

The original kapsalon was invented in Rotterdam... the original shop is still open. Today there are a hundred types of kapsalon, basically any mixed with fries they call a kapsalon now.

We normally let the butter warm up before we used it so it spreads instead of being chunks (make a lot of difference!). Also you choose salted butter, unsalted is probably better. There is also a butter version that is already spreadable without having to warm it up. A we most often eat it on one slice like a toast or a (soft) bun... this gives a better balance between the bread, butter and chocolate. Imo dark chocolate tastes better. But I can definitely see that this might be a thing you have to grow up with... on the other hand we have many more sprinkles you can try with chocolate and without.
