It's not always possbie to meassure in circuit with a ESR meter , desolder one pin or desolder it completely , i have Peak measurement equipment ESR , LCR and transistor tester

I had 2 caps in series in a PSU. The one that looked ruined (leaking, bulging, discoloured, the works) actually tested fine. The one that looked ok had results all over the place.

My cap resistance reads 0.83 that should be 0.52 with esr meter. Is the capacitor bad?

Would be ridiculpus to have to remove every capacitor to test it, in which case one would be better off just replacing all of them with new ones if that was the only way to test them!

Any capacitor should always be discharged through a POWER RESISTOR, WITH INSULATED LEADS,SO YOU DO NOT TOUCH THE LEADS.
