Well the its actually the producers, and labels who are sued, in most cases its copyright infractions related to lyrics or music and not seeking permission on use or not crediting usage if no permission was necessary... The ones that I know were successful, Rolling Stones win vs The Verve and Marvin Gaye Win vs Pharrell and Robin Thicke

A couple of the ones that ripped off the originals actually sound better to me. Especially Bitter Sweet Symphony, The Verve sounds better, the original almost sounds like the instruments need tuned or something

Funny thing about “Bitter Sweet Symphony” is that they got permission from the Stones to use the string sample.
But after the success of the song which was way more popular then the song they sampled.
The stones came running back trying to get their piece of the pie. Asking for “Full righting credit”

I view it as a bad case of greed personally.
