WHY HOLLYWOOD USES THESE CAMERAS THE MOST ($45,000 BODY ONLY!!!)

Oh did I mention I barely color graded the Alexa footage! It comes with a LUT when you import it into Premiere and thats pretty much all we did..... sooooo yea that was easy

Hollywood uses these dinosaur format cameras simply because they would feel silly shooting with a $5000 mirrorless when the performers are being paid in the millions and the movie budget is in the 10s of millions. As for the nonsense that we heard that the Alexa sensor is sooooooooo world’s beyond anything..that’s what it is .. a load of crap.

The low light footage is so grainy that from a normal camera it wouldn't be usable, but here that grain just looks gorgeous ☺

The other thing people don’t consider is yes the camera is $100K all rigged out.

But if you’re paying actors, directors, camera men, lighting techs, a building/ set, editors, marketing etc.

Does it really make sense to cheap out on the camera to save 1% cost when it affects image quality, arguably the only thing that matters in that world?

I noticed the focus on the Sony is struggling a bit. Is this because of the backlight? is this common? I was really impressed that they actually filmed a hollywood movie on the A7III (of course using a rig with manual focus) but I was just curious as a Canon shooter. Thanks

In short Alexa is robustness and top quality image sensor.

Just by the title,. Because hollywood still has the money, even dough is running out of creativity,. That includes writers editors, good stories and so on...

I would consider if it came with a lens kit. Lol

Funny thing about the weight - that camera isn’t even rigged out. That things gonna way a load more with an mdr3, FIZ motors and a transmitter on it

so for hobby guy my Cannon SL 3 is just maybe 1 notch down from this immage ( I can and others can live with that ) for my hobby level I am very happy with my camera and gear

They use it for the image quality that it delivers. Red can't match it, which is why they switched to film cameras for ASM2.

I am trying to optimally grab my gear within $1000 along with a single kit lens, maybe a hundred dollars give or take, in that regard, my options as available in my region are XT30, M6 MKII, Z50 & A6400. It would mean a world to me if you could help me decide my first ever gear. My focus is purely image quality, I am not weighing on video capabilites much, I prefer my smartphone and action cam for that.

I hate auto effects in most cameras. Simpler is always better, even if you get a workout in at the same time.

Not the best value for money but it does produce the best video
