We went to Ping’s a week ago. It was crowded, but seemed to be mostly tourists. Was kinda shocked by prices - the main courses were $20-$40, that felt quite a lot for Chinatown. We actually walked away and went to a nearby spot that felt more authentic (we were the only non-Asians there), less fancy, and with half the price.

Hit a few of these spots. The reviews were right on! However, at Uncle Lou's the chicken was not crispy and it was as rubbery as a car tire. Major disappointment. Perhaps we were just there on the wrong day.

I enjoyed the variety in the choice of restaurants, great video and loved the two guests - I'm subscribing to their channel right away!

These are the most americanized eats in NYC china town you can find. No real Chinese person would consider these as super authentic, theres this lady who sells "zongzi"- a traditional festive chinese sticky rice bun thing- for a dollar that actual chinese people have been going to.

No offense, to say "chinatown" when you practically stayed on Mott Street the whole day seems very misleading

There is this small Malaysian restaurant right off Chinatown on Grand St. in little Italy, it's called NYONYA, and it's my favorite restaurant in NYC. Food is very affordable and the quality of their dishes is very good, I recommend their Prawn Mee and Curry Mee with shredded chicken from the noodles in soup part of the menu. You won't regret it. Also, as a plus, their manu has pictures of every single item they offer, It makes it very easy to order.

That dumpling spot is overated and overpriced. There are so many better choices. Also the dim sum is quite expensive. I guess I'm used to Brooklyn prices (half the cost of the dim sum)
