When i was a kid all you had to do to be grunge was be poor... Most of us weren't grunge by choice...

I just want people to remember, grunge a lot like punk was built as a reaction to the mainstream, and build around poverty. I’m a punk who likes grunge, I know a lot of people who are involved in my local grunge scene and a lot of them like punk too. A lot of early grunge fashion looks a bit like punk stuff from the 70’s and had been made diy (how it should be), just remember if you join a subculture, know it’s history as well as music so we keep traditions alive. So our subcultures can live on.

ive always liked grunge music so i started researching a bit more and WOW its literally perfect

There's a girl in my school it's actually high school she had this style and everytime I passed her she looked at me like this (😏)
And 1 Day I was walking on the playground she came walk into me
That moment I knew I was Shocked I didn't know what to say..
She Was older then me btw she put her arm over my shoulder and she said "Hey whats up?"
I said " I'm fine" I was totally Confused until she went somewhere with me that no one was and there she kissed me
That day I realized that there's no need to be scared from Grunge poeple they're nice also Emo's

Also I changed my style now I wear Baggypants And Bigger Pull overs and the style is good...

Grunge is just what alot of lower class suburban/small town kids wore. Me and alot of my friends dress 'grunge' but that's just cuz their clothes. Flannels keep you warm while still being able to show off your t-shirt. Baggy pants last you longer. Beanies keep you warm.

Edit: Yesterday was open house for school and I got to wear my Nirvana shirt and my green cargo pants, along with my jade green converse shoes and all of my new silver jewelry. Kinda just looking forward for the year to be over even though it hasn’t even started yet.

majority of these comment are like, ''this isn't grunge'' etc. but grunge was just a group of folk back in the 80'd and 90's who had their style due to the fact LIVING is expensive, so.. plus not everything they listen to has to be grunge like calm down, do you listen to heavy metal to sleep probably not, tho not judging if you do.

Ik alot of people are saying these don't fit 90s grunge, and you're right. That's because it's not from the 90s, and neither are these people. The way something looks and is represented changes with time; it's been 30 years. Why would it look the same? While I also hate that alt fashion has been commodified by expensive capitalist organisation's to take advantage of people too uneducated and/or young to know better, that's not the consumers fault. Most of these people look like children, and all they see is either a fun style, or all they know is that people who fight the system wear these things, so they will too. Stop shitting on children and actually represent the culture that you claim to be apart of.

i love heavy metal and 90s what you'd call "grunge music" and love to dress this way. it's just a style. I do get a bit frustrated when ppl don't really know how it started but ppl should be able to express themselves anyway they'd like too!!

I was born in the city where grunge was born my dad dressed like this when i was a kid(and before i was born) and listened to grunge music it's sad people forget the history and only dress like this for the aesthetic without listening to any grunge songs other then nirvana.this style was made off of music and poverty.
