Tiger blocking
ОтветитьSuper important skill! If you look at White Crane (the origin of Karate), you'll see this technique figures prominently as well. If you look closely, you'll even see it's appearance in Taekwondo and Tai Chi Quan (although it obviously manifests a little differently ^__^ ). You may already know this, but it has another application which is a throw/takedown: the upper arm applies pressure with the ulna bone to the opponent's neck as the lower arm uses the radius bone to apply pressure to the thigh. The beauty of this technique is that it doesn't matter if you're standing in front of the opponent or to their side. Both work surprisingly well. Final note: Mas Oyama was a very big fan of this technique.
ОтветитьFelicitaciones Sensei. Ossssu
ОтветитьMy favorite Karate technique.
ОтветитьVery Good Jesse Sensei! Look my channel! I have a particular view of Shotokan Ryu Karate-Do.
Oss!
whaoo its really very effective. thank you so much for showing us the bunkai..
ОтветитьNow that I think about it, do you think it’s possible that they practiced so many wrist escapes because of the chance that they could be attacked by another Karateka or practitioner of another art that practices the concept of pulling hand?
Ответитьi love that tequnike!
thank you
Very good
ОтветитьLove these ! I need to subscribe SOON if I can
ОтветитьDoppo Orochi anyone?
ОтветитьDoppo Orochi brought me here.
ОтветитьShinshinkai
ОтветитьThank You sensei, Oss 🐲 💪 💪 💪
ОтветитьCircular block works very well, I have been using and teaching this for many years and it even works in the street especially if you practice so you can use it with attack. In fact I have had several people stop and refuse to even continue a friendly spar when I started the circle.
ОтветитьOsu, made in 2016 and yet effective, Osu!
ОтветитьInteresting interpretation. But i still think its a defense technique against a choke from the front with both arms.
I am a karate nerd like you with - i think- a similar experience. But it is really interesting to see what you are doing. Maybe I'll try your insider abo. ;)
Love your work! In Hung Kuen it's done a little differently. We do the side step and then the hand pressing down on the arm immediately shoots up to strike the jaw. This circular block is in many of our forms.
ОтветитьQuestion, Jesse San. Same technique. Situation: right punch to my face from my opponent. If i use my left arm in age uke to deflect my opponent's punch, ducking at the same time to step in his guard under his arm I can reach his opposite shoulder with my left hand. If now I apply my right arm on the back of his front knee and now I apply the mawashi uke technique I will obtain a kuzushi waza with myself in a sort of kiba dachi stance helping me to throw my opponent down. Possible 4th use of mawashi uke? I would appreciate your review, hoping I am clear enough for you to understand 😁
ОтветитьGenio. Jamas vi explicaciones tan didacticas y genuinas.
En mi pais no se ve este nivel. Ni en Karate, ni otro arte marcial.
Solo pocos maestros de Aikido que viajaron a Japon
Thank you Sensei Jesse, i have had lot's of doubt regarding Mawashi Uke.. now its clear. Osu..
ОтветитьYou dont propable know were you have ended. I am sorry for you!
ОтветитьI could see this working in a street fight or bar brawl, which are the type of fights karate is made to be used against. But when a trained fighter throws straight punches, it just seems like it would be too fast. You might catch a slow right cross this way if you're lucky, but not a jab. I could also see this working well against someone reaching out their arm to grab you or choke you. But someone like a boxer who throws punches all the time, you're better off covering up and closing the distance in my opinion. Either way, I like this bunkai for this technique. Overall I'm a big fan of how you approach bunkai, it's definitely given me a new perspective.
ОтветитьVackert, helt enkelt vackert.
ОтветитьLooks Filipino Style. Panantukan
ОтветитьGeese Howard's MAWASHI throw
ОтветитьIn my system ofl Kung Fu this is similar to Golden Chain Hand Blocking and we have six different ways to do this.
ОтветитьSensei, thank you. Even an elderly dude like me can use these moves. Can the mawashi uke block be used against a punch/kick combination. Or the reverse?
ОтветитьDoppo orochi
ОтветитьWonderful! 💐
ОтветитьHelps with steering wheels too. I do a lot of these before a long drive. 36 years if Shotokan I think of many applications for living.
ОтветитьJaw a good target too.
ОтветитьHow much is it for the subscription
ОтветитьSo nice, very practical
ОтветитьIm a wing tsun teacher, and ı really like this technique and very similar to wing tsun pack tan sap hun sao changes, is there any this type of techniques ı want to learn.
Thanks
After analysis mawashi uke for a while, I realised that it is an amalgamation of inward and outward arm rotation, which you can see clearly in the silk reeling excercises found in tai chi. Mawashi uke also demonstrate the concept of yin and yang literally with the hands in coordination.
ОтветитьIn the third demo, you could instead do a kimura, or even an omoplata if you're advanced. And since you are in a more dominant back position, you can simply choke him out! The mawashi uke if sick. It has so many applications.
ОтветитьAmazing
ОтветитьEver tried to use it with one arm in normal randori to follow the attacking arm in, back into his guard/kamaete ?
ОтветитьJesse Enkamp ,but the fourth use is the best! It's the most difficult, one reserved for 15th Dan Karate Nerds and Super Sayans. Mawashi uke+kame ame ah+ kiai!
I never got the timing right! 😂
As always absolutely excellent Jesse🥋⛩ And this proves that nothing in dento-Karate is superfluous.
Be curious and open minded. Practise Kata and explore how same techniques can be used in different situations.
Excelente
ОтветитьGreat video as always. My original comment was a question but I finally managed to find the answer on my own. In Shotokan this can be found in the Unsu Kata. 🙏🏻🥋
ОтветитьMuchas gracias!!!
ОтветитьGreat explanations for these 3 cases (there are some more, and variations. Unfortunately the link you refer to in the video, is broken :(
ОтветитьI like this block used it for years work in real fights what about in MMA
ОтветитьVery good, thank tou for your job, karatê is top. OSS!
ОтветитьMawashi uke is present in other blocks; for example kake uke or the uchi uke gedan barai we can see in pinan sandan, passai and naihanchi
Or maybe mawashi uke is composed BY other techniques?
Which was before? The chicken or the egg?
Oss🎉
