Jaguar XJS Has a Slight Transmission Whine When Cold... Let's Fix It!

Adam, I have the same car as your Father, this one. Marrelli ignition. I'm looking for the video on checking Voltage on the Throttle positioning sensor. I remember seeing it. Can't find now. I rebuilt the AAV, tested works good. Idles at 1000. Also on the Throttle bodies, the butterfy has an X on it. Is that up or on the bottom?

Wow I carnt believe you have done a video on this issue I have the same issue from cold after doing a filter change. Its drove me barmy thinking it's a gearbox issue.. I'm going to replace this o ring ASAP so will let you know the outcome but I pretty sure you've found the culprit that causes this problem..thanks Adam for doing these videos..

Hi Adam. Had the same issue with one of my XJ-S, but quite more whining. Installing new filter and O-ring fixed it. Think it was the O-ring... The O-ring came with the filter kit, no need to supply it seperately. Just bought a kit for TH400 / GM 400. Applies for Silver Shadow as well. Greetings, Christian

Add a drain plug.cavitation air sucking into front pump.oring is cut or shrink.adding a little trans x fluid condtioner help but don't add too much

I always put a drain plug in the auto trans pan. When I change oil, I dump and fill the trans as well. Cheap insurance.
