As a Swedish person watching and reading Moomin I already figured that Moomin troll was a title a long time ago

I think it's absolutely wild that people ship snufkin and moomin. To me, Snufkin is an adult and Moomin is a child. It's also very obvious that Moomin and Snork-Maiden are supposed to like each other. I love gay stuff, I am a homosexual myself, however I don't believe that snufkin and moomin are gay...😭😭

Is it just me or is Moomins consistently kind of... creepy? The episodes and books are always normal and sweet, and then out of nowhere some disturbing disgusting creature pops up. In the first episode of the 90's series, the one about that magic hat, Moomin turns into like this horrifying demon creature. I was terrified, man. It was 3am when I was watching that. And then a few episodes later we have to see the disgusting Ant-Lion or whatever it was called... eughhh.. And it seems like these terrifying creatures are a normal part of Moomins.

I think it's also worth mentioning that when the 90's moomin series was imported to Finland from Japan, the tapes had wrong color profile in them. This caused all of groke scenes to become nightmare fuel for kids accross the country. Simply google something along the lines of "groke Finnish vs Japanese" to see what I mean. I still have nightmares and I'm 24, lol

i think minnie was shown in the animated series! she was a character who was brought to the moomin house by too-ticky and was invisible due to trauma from an abusive aunt.

I'm Filipino, but my half-sister is half-finnish, so when her family come to the Philippines they always either bring finnish candy or moomin merch. We got moomin mugs, moomin towels, moomin fabrics, moomin books, dvds..
I also received gifts ofc, and its through her family that I got into the Moomins in the first place.
Though I have only read Moominsummer Madness and Moomins and the Great Flood because in a stroke of bad luck the only moomin novels I was given was Moominsummer Madness. I was gifted it about 3 or 4 times.

I have watched Moomins on the Riviera it's bizarre but based on the comics which are a little more adult orientated than the books as they ran in a newspaper for years, I haven’t read many of the comics myself but have got one and it literally opens with Moomin considering offing himself so the tone of the comics is definitely different, the comics where often used to reflect what was going on in society at the time.

Enjoyed it! Should be noted that the 1978 Fillyjonk film is actually not lost, I had just missed that it got uploaded when I wrote that original post, haha. Also, I don't remember saying the Martians are gay, but I agree with myself, they definitely are! /Mars Mom on this other strange account, oh my!
