Succession Season 4 Ep 10 - Tom and Greg Scene "I got you"

Matthew does such an incredible job throughout the entirety of the series portraying Tom, there is so much mystery and ambiguity to what he says and does for most of the series that makes his character so compelling to watch.

So satisfying to see the scared field mice Tom and Greg come out on top at the end over all the big dogs

Greg betrayed him. But he took enough sh*t from Tom in the past with their shared history that it's enough to see him through

What's up with the comments not getting the scene lmao. Greg is a traitor, playing for all sides to get something. When Tom says I got you he means it as "i got enough to get you" as in "i own you".

To be fair, Greg was unaware of Tom being appointed CEO and only did what he did to establish security for himself. Never in the show does he backstab Tom. He actually feeds Tom so much information that actually helped Tom become more selfish for good reason

Tom treated Greg like shit, but after Greg destroyed the documents Tom always had Greg's back, even when Greg didn't have his. He never throw Greg under the bus, and always looked out for Greg. It's weird how Tom was physically and verbally abusive towards Greg but his loyalty to Greg was also the clearest sign that Tom has a heart.

This show is pretty much perfect but I selfishly desire just 2 more minutes of screen time for CEO Tom. Jesus Christ Matthew Macfadyen took this character through a range of personalities from suck-up son in law desperate for crumbs to, quite literally, one of the most powerful living beings in the known universe.

I think Greg is the reason Tom got his wife back. If Tom secretly got CEO without telling her he wouldve taken away her consent and things wouldve soured further. That's the reason Tom isn't that mad.

And Tom couldn't be prouder of Greg as he says this.

These two have such a strong bond because at this point they both understand each other for what they are - spineless social climbers. Tom has moulded Greg in his own image and as such they completely understand one another. Perhaps the only relationship in the show where that is the case.

When Tom says “Quad man” it shows he knows the whole story. I think he respected him for making his play and says the you are a piece of sh*t line as a sign of admiration. I love the fact that he basically inherited Greg from Logan with the sticker.

The "Where is Karolina?" was a nice way of Tom saying "F you, Hugo. You are fired."

it just goes to show that if shive showed any level of loyal backbone tom would’ve probably kept his promises to her too

Tom reminds me of a coworker that would kiss the ass of the higher ups and when we would go on break he would talk so much shit behind their backs. Lol, I loved that guy. He got fired

This ending was the win we deserved. Kendall shouldn’t have been rewarded after getting away with manslaughter

You ever notice how tom tried to emulate logans manner of speech, at least when interacting with people he didnt care for? Like how logan would just give a grunt or one word response, we saw that in Tom by the end of the show

There's this incredibly genuine affection in the way Tom says "I got you." Honestly, it's kind of sweet.

Ngl I felt disappointed in Greg's character overall. He never went beyond being a comic relief character or made any big moves and is still under Tom's thumb just like he's been since the beginning of the show. Greg has about as much importance to the show as Connor which is to say he could be completely written out and not much would be different.

Tom has such an imposing, physical presence that combined with his weasel, "suck the biggest dick in the room" energy makes him such a great character. And it makes this final scene amazing too. When you realize that the guy bending the knee for the patriarch the whole show and under his wife's thumb ends up on top. It's an indictment of the incompetency of the kids.

The culmination of what is honestly the healthiest relationship in this entire series. What a twisted, incredible show.
