I like the convenient of boxed cake. Easy, quick, and fool proof. However, my only problem with box cake mix is it tend to be overly sweet. So my still unanswered question ... How can I just bring down the sweetness a bit without changing other characteristics of the cake?

I have seen doctored mixes that call for added sugar. I see you do not recommend this. which makes sense to me because since the box does not ask for added sugar I figured there is enough in the mix already. Your thoughts?

Hack 4 works for me! I make full fat Greek yogurt and until I found out my neighbour enjoys yogurt I'd have a good bit extra left over at the end of the "best by" date. I make it a gallon at a time! 😊

Should you still add a box of instant pudding mix even for box cakes with pudding in the mix? I’m not sure if that would make the cake too thick and absorb most of the liquid.

I don't understand box cakes... You actually have to use almost everything what you use when you're making a cake from scratch, except for flour and baking powder.
