Well of course Karpov - Kasparov was greatest chess match ever! Similar great match was Anderssen - Steinitz match around 1860 - as évek

Karpov so underrated. Just a few games off holding world champion title for 20+ years

Kind of a shame that Karpov gets so little recognition compared to Kasparov.
Don't get me wrong, Garry deserves all the praise he receives, but for every one-hundred times I've heard the name "Kasparov" mentioned, I've heard "Anatoly Karpov" once or twice.

Imo Karpov was a better player than Kasparov until '92. The championship games were usually decided by 1 game even though Kasparov's side consistently used cheap tricks and bad formats to grind Karpov down. Wish they had just let the chess play instead of the politics

The final game of match 4 is the all-time classic. Kasparov HAS to win against maybe the hardest player to beat of all time, if he wants to keep the title. Game on.

These two had wills of steel. Kasparov with his unrivaled dominance and Karpov holding his form and staying #2 and bringing Kasparov to the brink everytime

Don't really get why Karpov would resign in the first game. He is obviously a way better chess player than me but it'll take a monumental effort from Kasparov to win that game (It's a tablebase win for white if after black promotes and white plays qxb1 but they obviously didn't know that. Also if white plays qxa2, it's a tablebase draw, so I do think he should have at least played on)
