loved the explanation on soul rend. can we get an explanation of patches? for the laymen boss please

Your videos have single handedly got me to try Wild and I am having so much more fun than I've had in standard! Some decks are really annoying to play against but the sheer variety makes it so much easier to stomach. Also I love that I can play good Highlander decks again! :D Collection is still kinda poop but working on it. Any recommendations for mini sets etc. to buy? My collection is basically just standard blood DK and most standard legal Mage cards + the wild Highlander Payoffs (Zephrys etc.). I want to build more Highlander decks (warlock, priest) and probably Shudderwock Shaman in the long run. Currently gathering gold to buy the mini set with Mutanis in.

Soul rend is a harder card to understand for the uninformed imo cause with soul rend it can feel really bad to see the cards you would have wanted to play that game not knowing that if you didn't soul rend you wouldn't have been able to play those cards that game in the first place in their minds it's like oh no I would have drawn that card NEXT TURN WHEN THEY'D BE DEAD NEXT TURN.. Whereas patches they just need to understand that the goal of adding patches to your deck is actually to remove him from your deck as fast as possible. Blah blah blah delayed gratification some other psychology word. :)

On the first clip you can play a Zephrys and hope to find a 0 mana priest heal 5, am I wrong?

soul rend is extremely powerful, and so is cataclysm. Renolock with a discard package (and soulwarden for potentially infinite 6/6's is hilarious) has been extremely powerful even at competitive ranks against competitive decks, I highly recommend it. (Can even clap big priest!)

Originally joined Martian for great takes along the lines of the Soul Rend explanation. I'm always down when high-level players explain core concepts to their audience. MTG has a lot of that kind of content and I don't see as much of it in HS.

Soul Rend is the type of card that makes me appreciate playing arena for many years and having the “fel reaver” lesson already

The problem I run into with Soul Rend is I'm not experienced enough to know what match-ups to hold onto the card, since the game could go into fatigue, or when to slam it because the opponent is rushing me down. Sometimes the aggro decks can be spotted a million miles away, but other times it can be more difficult.

For patches i never doubted it was good in sweaty aggro. I hesitated so long in crafting it cause the decks i would use it in don't run too many pirates, stuff like thief rogue etc.

I do wonder what the cutoff is for how many pirates you need in your deck for it to be a good idea to run patches? Someone has to have crunched the numbers somewhere.

your talk about Zeph and the cards it offers makes me wonder, why doesn't Zephyrus always offer Boulderfist Ogre? It's so many stats for the cost, it has to be great in almost every situation.

Im glad you talked about soul rend. I have problems including that card in my deck too. Is hard to me to play it. Is nice to see your perspective on it.
Guess that not playing the card if you don't want to burn is a good argument. Is better to have 1 dead card in 1 match up than losing 10 games because you are not able to clear the board.
