Now you can still learn and make your own analogue photo paper to skip the digital printer for good.
ОтветитьLove the video, but that crap frame still looks like a crap frame, just with a great mount in it
I like how he explains a mechanical pencil like it's something we don't know about, lol.
I love my rotring, but if you want a mechanical pencil that really always has sharp look at kura toga pencils. The lead rotates as your writing
I could watch this all day!
ОтветитьGood video but could you ditch that annoying background music, please.
ОтветитьIve started to like the way the mount is a lot bigger at the bottom than the top, really nice, thankyou.
Ответитьplease call it one or the other choose one, matt or mount.
ОтветитьHELP
🤔how do you put own artwork that you drawed or painted and put it on top of a photo so its all unified USING COMPUTER AND PRINTER?
I was about to write the identical comment as I did 8 months ago! LOL🤣
ОтветитьHave to replace your knife blade every few cuts for foam board
ОтветитьGreat ideas, and great results!
ОтветитьNice video! Btw, rot-ring, not ro-tring. Rot-ring means red ring.
ОтветитьMake sure the easel is light weight, that way it causes less damage when thrown at you when given as a gift to your SO.
ОтветитьI love that floating photo idea!! I will be doing this! Great job as well!
ОтветитьCan you give me one of your camera for free 🙏
ОтветитьSubbed, but only for that socks and sliders combo 🙌🏼
Ответитьwho needs diamonds
ОтветитьModest much? 😂
ОтветитьI have that mat cutter and it's great. There is a line already engraved on the head at the back. This is what you line up for the start and finish off the cut. It can be seen in the video. It's a great video by the way, thanks for the great ideas
ОтветитьMr Heaton, I want to thank you. You know, for years I struggled learning to drive. My instructors had no passion, then I met Rob. Like you, he was calm, clear and concise in his teaching. You remind me of him in so many ways. I've been a photographer for years and always wanted to make a living from it. I had zero comfidence. You're the first person I've found who exudes passion, which can't be trained. I'm on fire after watching this video. I'm actually excited again and my own passion has been ignited. Sincerely, thank you! Subscribed to you! 🙏
ОтветитьGreat video Tom. One thing I think you missed about your 45° mount cutter - there is a marked line on the side of the cutter that is in line with the blade. If you position the cutter's marked line in line with your mount lines, that is where the blade will cut. Then you run the cutter along until the marked line hits the end of the mount line.
Ответитьlove it, thanks
Ответитьhmmm self-adhesive foam core is that guaranteed archival!!!???
ОтветитьThis smells a lot like:
" have to make gifts for my family, how can I mark it as a buisness expense?"
Great videos and great ideas, I'll definetely use some of those!!!
Logan has a brand called Foam Works. They have a foam cutter system with a dedicated ruler. Cuts come out perfect and you can trim the print together with the foam board.
ОтветитьJust a note re the tool if you look at the cutting tool there is a marker which lines up with the blade so you dont have to mark your channel guide. Look at your vid at 3.31 on the very right hand side and you can see it 😀
Ответитьgot me so inspired to start doing this myself
Ответитьlol he said bespoke and i thought of Samsung fridges. lol
ОтветитьBrilliant ideas!! Thank you for this.
ОтветитьI made 12 individual mini easels, one for each table at our wedding evening do by printing onto canvas inkjet paper and gluing them on thin foam board. Each pic was from a different place from our travels and the guests loved them. 😀
ОтветитьA tip for using the mount cutter - put another piece of surplus mount board beneath it when cutting otherwise you'll blunt your blades in no time cutting directly through onto the matt cutter board.
Ответитьbravo! the floating print is genius! I've been screwing two tiny eyelets into a length of square dowel, adhering it to the back ( and another without eyelets towards the bottom ) and running some wire thru it - which hangs cool but does nothing to preserve the print. Now, I want anyone who lives in southeast wisconsin to pass over this part: 2nd hand shops are great places to find CHEAP used frames! next: i'm concerned about the suicidal manner in which you PUSH that Logan mat cutter! Much greater control and smoothness of operation PULLING it toward you. Also, the cutter has a "notch" to indicate where the blade is when it's pressed down into the mat. i have that same Logan handtool, I change blades on it as often as i do the mat cutter to avoid that nasty edge on the foamboard. I've had some success using a fine sandpaper to clean up that edge... some. But THANKS AGAIN for the floating print! Oh! is it me or would that wonderful Pro-1000 be better utilized with canon's Professional Print and Layout? I love that printer! Not the 4100 I really wanted but....
ОтветитьThis video is so great! I would ,I’ve more of these types of fun videos from you. Keep up the good work!
ОтветитьCool stuff ---
ОтветитьI truly enjoyed this whole video. I need to refill the carts in my Canon Pro-10 and start making some art. Thank You
ОтветитьHi Tom, what is the grey wallpaper in the back of the video?
Ответитьdid you really describe to us how a mechanical pencil works? X-D
ОтветитьMPB is very good. I have used them several times, mainly to buy lenses but also once to sell a lens. Great video, and some great ideas.
ОтветитьWell done. And a hello from Chilliwack Canada
ОтветитьSome great ideas here Tom, although I was a bit surprised you didn't place a scrap piece of mount board between your cutting mat and the mount board you were cutting as I believe you shouldn't use a bevel cutter direct on a self-healing cutting mat.
ОтветитьGreat video but to avoid the messy edges on the foam centre board you need to make sure your blades are really sharp, just my observation from working in the print presentation industry for 30 years.
ОтветитьIt's mounting in the US also. Mount board (the board(s) you mount the photo to - Matboard - the boards with the holes cut in them so you can see the image.
I used to do all dry mount (a holdover from my darkroom days) - Then I switched to hinged & matted. Then I switched to frameless mounted on Di-Bond and laminated (most of these are 2x4 - 2x5 feet). The nice thing about DiBond is it's very thin, stiff, and absolutely smooth. The downside is finding a place that can trim it with smooth edges. And you really want to laminate the image for UV & dust protection - so it gets pretty expensive.
Then I changed to floating in a frame (the largest was a 20x28 inch image). Where I finally landed was - floating is great for small stuff (say up to 16x20) - when you hit sizes measured in feet, frameless has some real advantages - but it's definitely a different, more "modern" look.
In my floating images, I always left at least 1/2 inch free around the edges of the mounting board. Sometimes you get a tiny bit of wave to the paper- which I kind of like.
Some great ideas here - thanks a lot!
ОтветитьGood stuff. One of my favorite activities. Perspex is fine as you say if you don't scratch it. Many cheap frames use float glass which is green and perspex is optically clearer. With nicely textured paper think about discarding the glass all together to make it look more tactile.
ОтветитьWhen cutting foam board you need to make sure you have the knife sharp. Snap off the bit you have been using and if you are doing a lot of cutting keep snapping the end off. I used to do this for a living and believe me I know what I am talking about.
Ответитьlook out for frames in charity shops, your can find good quality wooden frames for a few quid with glass fronts, replace the old prints with your own work. I did this for a friend a few years ago. Spray painted the frames to suit the decor, for not a lot of money.
Ответитьtoo I made like s on garage band and thought it be easier in softsoft. nope
ОтветитьI was only thinking the other day that I don't have enough of my work on my walls and then...BAM!! your vid comes along. Inspirational to say the least I have just purchased all the cutting kit and will be off to the shops today. Thank you once again !!!
ОтветитьLovely ideas, thanks!
ОтветитьJust an observation, your air pump you use to get blow away dust etc….Is that an anal douche? 😊
ОтветитьBit geeky on the pencil? Not at all, I was there with you. Oh, am I a geek too? 😮
