I use tab but my editor converts it to spaces.
ОтветитьAll that talk over smaller file sizes and Vim vs. Emacs made me think this was set in the 90s until i saw the MacBooks
ОтветитьHe's right about emacs, but he's wrong about the tabs.
ОтветитьVim is better than emacs
ОтветитьHow to be virgin tutorial
ОтветитьA chick that uses vim?
ОтветитьOver
ОтветитьMy professor is like this except like 5x worse, complete lunatic. Emacs just sounds like "batshit crazy" to me these days.
ОтветитьIf he runs a compression company he should know that sequences of spaces can be compressed very well
ОтветитьI will happily use whatever the language standard dictates. Go: tabs, Rust or PHP: spaces. Just configure your editor and use whatever formatting tool is available for your language.
Ответить"It could look different on other people's computers" yeah, thats the point. If I configure my editor to make the indentation smaller then i wanna see that refelcted accross all the code i write, and if somebody else then prefers more indentation we can still work together without compromise
Ответитьbro used tab on the way down & fell off
ОтветитьCompletely fake, Emacs users don't know how to talk to a girl.
ОтветитьI use both 😉
Ответитьso he uses tabs for lesser file size but then prefers emacs bloatware over vim ? lol
ОтветитьI'm the sidepiece boytoy who uses vscode
ОтветитьEmacs is better.
Ответитьwell i use three spaces for one tab, and use vim over emacs
ОтветитьI use spaces and Emacs
ОтветитьThe argument "Cuz it would look different in other people's computers" is exactly why I think tabs are better! If I like x space indenting and every file uses tabs, it would look the way I like it (since my editor is rendering tabs the way I want), if you like y space indenting, then it look good for you. I don't know...
Ответитьwhat about tabs to spaces converters?
Ответитьwell I am on richards side when it comes to tabs vs spaces. Vim vs Emacs, not so much.
ОтветитьSO unironically I'm looking for Emac tutorials... after learning Vim I just wanna see what's so different, but I'm pretty sure nobody uses Emacs now that Neovim exists, so like this is one of the first results...
Also spaces vs. tabs does matter, you should fallow whatever the coding guide for your project says, easier to grep everything that way.
...Chr*st I'm old...

ОтветитьImagine being austisic enough to care and yet they both use macbooks.
ОтветитьThe title should be "Silicon Valley - I do use Vim over Emacs [s3e6]"
ОтветитьThis is like Seinfeld
ОтветитьSpace is better. Tabs are horrible
ОтветитьMoore James Harris Michelle Garcia Thomas
ОтветитьI think the relationship is 'Doom'ed
ОтветитьRichard seems more like a vim guy tho
Ответитьas a vim user, yeah hes a weirdo
ОтветитьI use Vi. No Emacs or VSCode. Just Vi, Tmux and a terminal :)
Ответитьjajajajajjajajajja
ОтветитьYou can change emacs default short cuts to vim motions with evil mode plugin, or you can get almost any short cuts in emacs, just say it. Emacs is just born to be adjusted as the people want to use it. I know it is just a comedy show but some people take this emacs vs vim debits too seriously.
ОтветитьJust write hex like we did in the stone age, no spaces, no tabs, no compilation steps
ОтветитьBoth of them are using a mac. ..
ОтветитьThey should just both use Evil mode on EMacs.
ОтветитьHow could they make Richard not use vim. Wild
Ответитьdude prettier
Ответить1 tab saves you 8 spaces?
Good fucking Lord
"It could look different on other peoples computers..." THAT IS THE ENTIRE POINT! it gove you more freedom, right?? 🤦🏼♂️😂
ОтветитьTo be fair, using Vim over Emacs is pretty dumb.
ОтветитьAutoindent for me.
ОтветитьDont know why but i used to think richard supported vims. I rewatched this clip years later now I realized he is pro emacs.
tf is this mandella effect ?
The joke that he "tried to walk down eight stairs at once" is missing.
ОтветитьThere's distribution of emacs called Spacemacs
Ответитьthere is also this space that doesn't show(computer sees it - it has a unicode code, but people don't). Which is extremely fun to add into someone else's python code.
Ответить😂
ОтветитьVim > Emacs > Vi > Nano
