Before 12:00 pm midnight a few days ago, I was sleeping in my bed while the WEAS was activated on my Motorola. When I woke up that night, I thought there was an AMBER Alert, but boy oh boy, our area in Northeast Ohio just had a tornado warning. So, my brother came into my room, he and I went to the basement, and waited for 30 minutes before an all clear signal was given.

I'm European and there are no earthquakes here. I have no clue what to do when one happens. We flew to the other side of the world, passed out on the bed badly jet lagged, and in the middle of the night this alarm blows up on all our phones. The text is in Japanese. The hotelroom starts to shake and idk wtf is going on. Honestly, this alarm was so much more scary than the earthquake.

Not to be that guy, but this isn't just Apple, this sound is used internationally for emergency alerts and sounds the same on devices of all manufacturers, with the exception of only a few countries.

Today I heard it. It was for an amber alert.

I hear this sound on my Android Phone.
So this sound can be heard on Android AND Apple Phones.

The iOS sound that I like the least

One time me and my mom were driving to the store in a severe thunderstorm. It eventually turned into a tornado, but my mom's phone was connected to the radio speaker in the car, so when this sound was blasted across the entire car, it literally gave me a panic attack.

To be honest, like other countries are lucky that this doesnt play as a "test alarm" EVERY FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH

Anytime i used to be outside and this would play i shat my pants. I’d run inside and scream “AMBER ALEERRRRRRRRT” and my mom would panic. Now i have my alerts off lol.

I turned off amber alert notifications on my iPhone. This sound effect just creeps me out.
