The black men over there are weird as f*..
ОтветитьMyrtle Beach is also beautiful place to live
ОтветитьIt’s horrible here! Not progressive and highly segregated
ОтветитьKing St(Downtown) is bittersweet
D-Road(N. Charleston) keep your head on a swivel
Great video and topic. Many could learn some life lessons from what you say in this video. Thanks for making this video.
ОтветитьThe friendliest black communities are around James Island and Ravenel..
Ответитьall things are good now you don't live in a black community with your mind set you're going get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time
ОтветитьShe needs to focus on her self-awareness before creating videos
ОтветитьI am in Charleston SC now as a first time visitor. I am staying at a hotel downtown and there are nothing but whites here. When I entered the hotel there was a white guy standing by the elevator. When I walked up to the elevator he put his hand on his hip and started to glare at me. I said hello, and he didn’t speak. I was getting on an elevator and a white lady and her husband was standing at the elevator, the elevator opened, and she stopped her husband from getting on the elevator. This racism is so up in your face. I am from the south and I have never experienced such a racist city. Everywhere I have went today, I was surrounded by whites that don’t speak when you speak to them. I currently live in Atlanta. I am sure there is racism in Atlanta, but it’s not up in your face like it is here. It’s sad that you will lie to these people just to make a sale. This is a beautiful city, but I would never want to live here. I couldn’t imagine living here with me being a nurse and having to care for a bunch of prejudice patients. I can’t imagine how they would treat me. I went on tours and all they talked about was how slaves from West Africa built
Charleston. I was the only black on the tour. Then the tour guide asked me where I was from. I told him Atlanta. He was nice, but I think he read my facial expression when he talked about slavery. That’s why most of the whites that live here act the way they do. I wouldn’t advise any person that is not white to live in Charleston SC.. Let these ignorant racist people have this city. Blacks aren’t in the establishments because they know they aren’t wanted. They are probably scared they will put something in their food in the restaurants.
They taking over what’s been historically Black American areas, were I live theirs 17 different languages of people here..
ОтветитьIt’s better when u get out in the mix an show us rather than tell us.
ОтветитьLove that accent. South Carolina 🎉
ОтветитьYes she’s working for the chamber of commerce. But I can see her going into a tank full sharks, most women will see them as pet fish. Born in SC it’s a dead giveaway if a person don’t say hello back. Watch your six. People just beware of your surroundings.
ОтветитьI from Atlanta, Georgia and I lived in Chas for awhile, Johns Island mostly. I'll just say this . . . if I could go back, I certainly would. Lovely place in alata ways. L
ОтветитьThe weather and atmosphere was gorgeous but as a lighter skin black woman it was racist.
ОтветитьIs it too late to ask if your experience is still positive in Charleston SC?
ОтветитьNope! So is New Orleans!!
ОтветитьIt’s a great place to stay and grow, the women are the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen ❤
ОтветитьDon't move there! It sucks for a black person.
Seriously, if you have to ask about it then you already know it sucks & you're trying to trick yourself into believing it's ok. The place really sucks & you could get stuck in that crab bucket.
I've never seen 1 black community that was friendly or safe overall
ОтветитьThis was OK, but it didn’t really touch on where Black people hang out, gather, and if they feel as if they’re generally in an inclusive environment
ОтветитьDont you love it when people say racism is everywhere when you are only talking about one specific place. DEFLECTION.
ОтветитьSeriously, this is funny, you don’t get more black. Charleston🫢
ОтветитьMe and my wife has a raw juice bar (raw pressed juice, fruit smoothies, vegan burgers, salad wraps / bowls, etc etc) here in Waukegan Illinois and was talking about S.C , How is the healthy conscious communities there?
ОтветитьThanks for the review, i love what you said about the restaurants in SC, i go to restaurants in Atlanta and ive been the only black person in the restaurant. It doesnt bother me, i grew up a military kid and had asian friends, white friends, bi racial friends, black friends, and etc so i dont care about race just as long as that person is nice to me. Im hoping i get this job at the VA in Charleston, the place sound a little better.than Georgia.
ОтветитьHi what is it like in Landrum, is there a lot of racism there?
ОтветитьPlease, as a black person, do not move somewhere expecting blacks or a black community or a white community to be of any true support to you. If you are after your goals and dreams, God gave it to you, not a community. Many times, a community do not want to see you succeed. And will try to spiritually steal your dreams and profit from it themselves. You have to know that it will be your own work and effort, along with the right true people.... that help you get to your goals. And that may come from any race. If you depend on a black community, you may never reach your dreams. But if you push forward and allow life to send the right people, not fakers who come to steal that vision, but the right people, then you are on the right track.
ОтветитьDear Carmilla, yesterday, I watched this video after returning from a weekend trip to Charleston. Your spirit and outlook are contagious as well as inspirational! Thank you for the person you are! Loved the info!
ОтветитьI love this video. My wife and I are looking to buy land near Charleston. My wife is white and I'm black and we have two biracial sons. Any ideas of towns outside of Charleston?
Ответитьhi there
ОтветитьTheir thinking better in Charleston more than a lot of places in the states.
Ответитьwhere do all the black people be hanging at?
ОтветитьThank you SO much for the authenticity in this video about our hometown.
ОтветитьI’m bi-coastal and I would say check out the surrounding counties also. I like goose creek and Summerville but only 20-30 minutes away. Berkeley and dorchester counties are rapidly growing. If you like fishing and hunting the lakes in Ridgeville 30 minutes away are nice. Also, Cross and Pineville great for a relaxing day at the lake 45 minutes away. I am exploring on the weekends and having so much fun. Please check out historic Georgetown SC also. You will see some racism, but I would say a minimal amount in my opinion. You will see a lot of confederate flags on cars and houses.
ОтветитьHello Carmilla! I'm Josh. I hope to relocate sometime in January from Harrisonburg, VA! I loved your video. Great personality! Great commentary!
Ответитьwhere the klan at
ОтветитьThank you for sharing your video. I love that you quoted Wayne Dyer! I am looking to relocate from Connecticut!
ОтветитьThe race relations use to be real good until the people from South Carolina moved in. Now they have a bunch of race hustlers that want to cause division with “racism” funny how they will bring that up but won’t say Jack about blacks committing almost 76% of murders, majority of victims were black, and blacks only made up 17% of the population. So you have more to fear from a young black male than an old white man.
ОтветитьThanks, Carmilla, I am moving to Charleston from Kenya for college at CSU and I am happy to have landed on your videos. Thanks for the info, keep doing the wonderful job and God bless.
ОтветитьNot related...but that lip color looks fabulous on you!!
ОтветитьAs the mother of a black daughter, I appreciate your perspective on this so much. Thank you for making this video.
ОтветитьMy wife and I will be visiting this summer for our wedding anniversary. Is there a thriving Black community there with business, restaurants, events that we could check out? I'm tired of being minoritized and spending all of my money in all White spaces. What do you suggest we visit?
ОтветитьI like black people if they are nice ,good and bad in every race.
ОтветитьShe’s selling Charleston here not having critical discussion about living in. Charleston.
ОтветитьHow are the salons in Charleston? Any recommendations?
ОтветитьFrom my experience people here are not as friendly as they say and black people here are crabs in a bucket. If you are from out of town thinking about moving to South Carolina, do not move to Charleston or North Charleston. You’re better off moving to Summerville, Moncks Corner, or Mount Pleasant if you can afford it. May see a lil racism in mount pleasant and Daniels island but friendly here? I don’t know about that. I’ve been born and raised here and I know from experience. I’ve lived in Summerville, North Charleston and mount Pleasant growing up and as an adult now I’m in Charleston downtown and I’m ready to leave South Carolina all at once. 🙄 but try it for yourself only you know what you like or don’t like🤷🏽♀️it just seems like black peoples give black people a hard time living here it’s sad.
ОтветитьHi, thank you for this video! We recently moved from NJ and live in Myrtle Beach. I seem to be having a difficult time adjusting to this area and feel there isn’t any culture that caters to black people and the black community. Do you have any suggestions for a more cultural experience in the surrounding areas?
ОтветитьCharleston SC is racist city and it's hard for a black man to get a good career to and do well here
ОтветитьI'm British and have been wondering this since visiting SC has increased in popularity.
