I love this song so much. When my son was an infant I would place him over my shoulder each night and sing this song to him so he could go to sleep before I placed him in his crib. It worked every time. He is now 20 years old, stands 6'-1" tall and weighs 210 pounds of solid muscle. See the beauty of music?

I've seen the movie of this, it's called Rock and Roll Your Eyes but it had those pyschedelic effects that made it hard to watch but the music is classic ELP, just GREAT!!!

The theater audience roundly booed those psychedelic effects, and cheered whenever they stopped, when I saw the movie in LA in 1973 or 74.

@TheBellaemmamom I listened to them in the very early 70's and saw them several times. Now since DVD's I've only found four of them with live performances. They played live last year 2010 and the DVD was for sale on their site. Have not found it in stores yet. I'm a classically trained pianist and most of Keith's music is from the classsical composers. He did some composing himself of course.

@PaulRoberts Yes, the Lyceum show was filmed in full but, for reasons that are beyond my understanding, it was not included here...and neither was the version from Brussels' 71.

@barrabasi The Lyceum show was filmed in full. I'm sure the Barbarian is on here somewhere. Shame those daft psychedelic effects have further spoiled what is already pretty mediocre cinematography - not what ELP deserve.

I can't believe how hard it is to find live footage of them. Isle of Wright and Cal Jam 74 is like all there is!

GOD I wish there was a video release of the album "Pictures At An Exhibition". That particular performance is simply INCREDIBLE!!!! Every time I listen to it,I hear something new that amazes me and wish I could SEE it being performed.

I agree with the last comment. It's such a pitty "The Barbarian" does not appear in the Lyceum set nor in the Belgium one. Why was that?
