Someone tell me, did he originally read sheet music for this or is it all riffing around a melody he knows in his head?!. Amazing use of the whole keyboard. Wow.

The score was entirely in his head and never written down. Many have tried to do manuscript but unfortunately the virtuoso pieces are too complex.

I had the pleasure of seeing Errol Garner in concert in Birmingham Town Hall (UK) way back in the sixties. Powerful memories!

Apparently he would invite young pianists to his house to hear them play just to play what they played and completely flex on them 😂

Four minutes of perfection

When I was I first heard misty I was 17 now I’m 82 and still love it.

8years gone my dad idolised Errol which is why it brought me here he was a jazz musician played clarinet and played this perfectly, it was a challenging time for me 😮woken early to the sounds , However good and bad it’s a comfort to here this right now ❤❤❤

I’ve taken piano lessons in the past but I don’t consider myself a piano player by any stretch. However I can appreciate this mans obvious keyboard skills and finger dexterity but for me that’s where it stops. There was no discernible melody, just a noise which I found hard to listen to.

Mysty was the favorite song of my godfather, Billy Rogers. He told me that back in time, the 50s or 60s. Me, Laura, the song from the movie, and the middle name of my grandmother, Catherine Laura Ring Rogers. South Boston-Savin Hill, Dot.

I remember when Misty was the theme song for The Today Show in the 1960s.

Thank you for posting his music. I’ve never heard of his name nor anything about him. He’s a true genius in my eyes for composing such a beautiful song when he even didn’t know anything about music. Also, it’s quite impressive to see his fingers just fluttering over the keys so effortlessly. WOW!

One of those players who shows you that nobody knew the instrument could do that until he came along.
