Review of the amazing new motorhome that thinks it is a campervan - the Chausson X550 (2021)

Very clever design. |Exterior looks amazing, but the interior is limiting it to a very niche market.

Good review, hired one recently, lack of storage ment kept things in the shower area, which is amazing but such a waste of space. The newer models now don’t have to move all the cushions at night, that was a right pain! And we didn’t have 4 people, agree sitting at the table with no window opposite is not really pleasant. We had manual but now we would only go for automatic. Heating was good on diesel. gpl gas we didn’t like! van must be very level to get it to work properly and it’s sluggish in very hot weather.
Would personally prefer bit longer and twin beds. And more storage, smaller shower.

Interesting one this but it really needs looking at about thinking about window on drivers side doesn’t look right hope they decide to listen to people and add one in before building then would be a shame not to 👍🏽👍🏽

this is superb! imagining it all done in a matt black, think that would look rather slick but this van really really works. the only quibble is its a pity there are not windows on both sides of the lounge area.

Very tidy piece of kit, love the look of it, definitely needs a window over a cork board, but all i can think is… how can VW justify their camper prices?

I really don't think that I could cope with out the off side window. Apart from that it looks ideal to me.

Without the right window is a "no" for me!

I do LOVE the design (the Italians should be proud) but ludditily scared of all the tech 😱

Too many electronicky bitty bits that move uppy downy, backy and forthy, that, for me, l know will go wrong or move inny outy when l want them to move uppy downy 😓😥

I do love future technology but the future hasn't arrived yet for me; well just not a tekky future that actually works 100% of the time (ie: when you need it to work.) only IMHO. 🤠

I was wondering what insulation is like in this type of motor home ? Could it be used 12 months of the year? Cool in summer? Warm enough on average winter days? This van reminds me a little of stealth campers that all the rage in USA.

I like it a lot but my only concern is size of kitchen sink. If you are going on holiday for extended time frame would be better to have a larger sink . Great van and certainly looks like it worth purchasing if you have close to 60 grand .

I want a Japanese camper maker who mass-produces similar low-performance campers that don't look good instead to infuse nail stains and drink them.

You could have a lot of wonderful holidays in hotels for 60 grand for that reason I'm out

They could have done away with the sliding pocket door to the bathroom and just used the revolving screen for the shower to meet the frame. Obviously using the cupboard door as the main bathroom door, the screen being secondary.
What i never understand with campers, especially this version with the with the shower and toilet at the rear is why they don't have that rear unit as a sliding box that would give an extra 4/5ft at the rear (extending worktops) when parked up. Allowing for the shorter wheel base whilst driving and more interior when parked?
Great camper that start's at a reasonable price. Look forward to the all electric version.

Looks like a great van for two couples if one of the couples wants to camp in a tent next to the van.
That way it can be used as a 2 berth for one couple with the bed right down, with the option that if the weather turns (quite likely if you're camping in the UK) the second couple could pack up the tent and use the table/sofa bed to get out of the bad weather.

Tiny kitchen work area but it could easily seat seven…..bag of crisps it is then.

Had to laugh, it just reminded me of a UPS van.

Rather than a pin board, chalk board and mirror on that offside wall I'd have just dressed it as a cinema screen and fitted a bluetooth projector opposite. You'd then have the first home cinema in a van - for around £200 !!! (I claim copyright on that idea guys !!!)

Put me on the list for the electric version e-Ducato X550. No need for gas, all electric heat pump heating and cooling induction hob, electric fridge/freezer and water heater.

Should be kept under 50,000
We like it save the Bottom Seats = Nope & would rather be able to Hang a 55 inch 4k tv on the one wall instead of the CB/mirror
Would be worth 60k With 2000 watt pure sine inverter & 1000w Solar to run heat/AC choices
We also prefer a Composting style toilet as We dislike Campgrounds & or running or listening to Generators
Is is Fuses or Best being circuit breakers
Rv manufacturers should start using Ammonia which costs 25 cents per liter & can be toggle switched or computerized swap to Gas etc w No lag time , as ammonia produces little more than 87% efficiency of Gasoline , Now the upside of ammonia No Carbon the biproducts are Nitrogen & water vapor , a well Properly designed EGR system & reburn some of it as well

I'm seriously thinking of selling up retiring & buying a campervan / motorhome to just live & tour around in, it'd just be me with occasional friends or family guest ,the choice is unbelievably hard but this chausson really looks like it could be the one ,would you have any others to consider , I'd add it would mostly be used wild camping

glad to see a design where the bathroom is actually practical

À la première sortie de mon X150 Challenger, en fin de soirée mon concessionnaire me téléphone en me disant : Danger, il ne faut pas rouler le lit en haut, il risque de tomber, ni de rester à table sans rouler, le risque est le même ! 

Pour cette fois j'avais pris ma p'tite fille, résultat c'est ma femme qui a pris position sur le lit en position du "Bouddha" se tenant tant  bien que mal.

Ma p'tite fille de 4 ans en pleure sur le siège passager, obligation de rentrer de nuit à la maison. 

Avec le lit en bas, ce qui n'est pas prévu pour rouler, le centre de gravité n'est plus le bon et l'avant du véhicule faisait des bons en haut et en bas une vraie balançoire, il fallait freiner régulièrement pour le stabiliser, la honte, un danger permanent. 

Action de Rappel de l'usine : Circulaire n°08 / 2022 / IMPORTANT 

Mon concessionnaire m'a repris ce piège, aucune confiance. 

J'ai fait un MAIL à l'usine à Y.Fontaine pour demander au moins le remboursement de la carte grise et un dédommagement symbolique. Aucune réponse. 

Si vous en voyez un en exposition : Fuyez au plus vite.

Double it's value, fill it up with diesel.

Thanks for the video I have watched a few now as I was thinking of buying a motorhome but to be honest I can't see the appeal? £80k to sleep In a field in a van setting up beds emptying toilets ect or many many holidays around the world 🌎 🤔
