Starfield Lockpicking Explained As Easy As Possible (Digipick Lock Guide)

I didn't know you could rotate the locks. I thought my shit was bugged.

My freaking god this actually helped monumentally. Until this video I wondered why it was so difficult and required constant restarting. I was missing the bit where you could select the templates from the right side. Thought it was just showing you in which order they would show up. After many dead ends then restarting I knew I had to be doing something wrong 😂

This is the FIRST Bethesda game where I do none of the thieving and lockpicking because I cannot seem to understand this and when I do complete the lockpick, it just wasnt worth my time or effort... I f**king hate this minigame.

It took me a while to understand on how unlocking works with Digipick, but once you get the hang of it, it is truly easy! To be safe you should make a save checkpoint just incase you messed it up.

Love this game but the digipick system had me complete avoiding anything locked.

Just quicksave before every attempt snd reload your save if it doesn’t work first try. Lockpicking in this game is straight trash and savescumming is absolutely justified for objectively bad game design.

It’s best just to spam the a button and eventually they’ll all match up , it’s a pretty broken system and they should’ve just used the hacking mechanic from fallout

There is a mod that helps or so I’ve heard. But I’m trying a mod free run so…

This is an awesome mini game mechanic that actually requires you to think about completely it.

Out of all the RPG's I've played for decades, Starfield has THE WORST lockpicking mechanic I've ever seen hands down!!! Who is the crack addict that thought of this mentally ill system? For the life of me I cannot figure it out. They offer a college course? Confusing as hell, makes no sense, defies all human logic and is completely stupid! A damn child could design a better method than this.

This is the stupidest system ever so many times the first one doesn't match any slots so you redo it then the first one works then the second one doesn't match up with the slots so it takes 1 to redo it.... Honestly cancer

Okay I think I've worked it out... so say for example you have 4 options on the right hand side. Sometimes you might have two options that will fit, you have to make sure you aren't using one up that will fit later, if that makes any sense. So line them up, look to the inner ring and see if the ones you have left will fit when you use up the earlier ones. It's confusing and I know it's a rubbish explanation but hopefully it helps someone 😅

This lockpick system is inconsistent and broken at best. You cannot always see every pattern as sometimes when you solve one, the next one will not be the one that is in line but a completely different one. You can also get locks that are 100% unsolvable.
