i have a necklace that lets you shapeshift into a raven, cant remember if i got it at the end of act 2 or in the beginning of 3...

So i take it kar'niss done dips out of existence after act 2 gets completed? Or is there a way to keep him coming back?

I'm so happy to learn I can get my first-ever pet in this game back. I thought they were dead for good. ;w;

You can make spider eggs, and find plenty of them

Werid thing, I have a Eldritch Knight fighter (that has a level in cleric to boot) that can summon a raven familiar, said bird showed up with Quothe as its name. I though Tavs just got a unique named familiar for what ever one you summoned first. Guess its just a glitch then. Though I love the idea of a heavly armored siliver dragonborn with a raven on his shoulder. That bird even killed a goblin archer by itself once.

Never knew about the spore monstrosity resurrection stuff, does this work on the spectator in the under dark?! On my 3rd playthrough lol at this rate we all will be discovering new stuff about this game for years!!

Re Kar'niss you can convince them to give you the lantern even if you join the Harper ambush. They will leave on their own the same way and no fight starts, the Harpers just stay hidden. You'll find him later in the heavily cursed lands in the same area. And you can summon Balthazar's huge brother familiar in Act 2. I think if you're a Necromancer you can upgrade the ghouls summons to winged ones, but I can't remember if it's a Necromancy power or a feat. You can also get to the vault in Sundries from the bookseller's office.

Since you are including the Animated Spores as pets... you missed the Most POWERFUL of them all... You can kill absolute every enemy without them getting to attacking you! not just that but this Pet has different variants...

And that pet is... the Tiefling kids from the Druids Cove 😅
I am not joking... they may deal very little damage, but guess what, kids can't enter combat mode 🙃 so you can attack all you want and they will just take it

thats an interesting way to get into the vault. I usually just go through Librarian's Office.

Using a spell that controls something temporarily is not a summon or a pet.

You can also convince Balthazar to give you a bell to summon his brother. I know he's not technically a permanent companion but still an honorable mention. :3

I need ALL the pets

I made Gale a transfiguration wizard (I think that’s the name) and he can summon familiars sine level 2. The raven is also called Quothe the Raven

If you can’t convince Chop to release Us, killing him is not a morally reprehensible act, even though he and the intellect devourers will become aggressive. As he dies, he thanks you for freeing him.

I feel kinda bad about it, cause Lump is such a great character with his personality, but after I use his horn (usually to de-goblinize the goblin camp) I always have to take him down, that headpiece for 17 Int is just too good to pass up on! >< that thing is great for any "Face" character that had to sacrifice Int for more important stats to your builds.

Danse Macabre is so fun because 90% of the time the ghouls just act as sentient bombs

Question does the spores also work on the creature that turns things to stone with the big eye from the under dark?

Can you have the zombie from second marriage, the zombies/skeletons of animate dead and the Ghouls of Danse Macabre all at the same time?

What about djinn, elementals, and myrmidon? If Deva counts as a "pet" why dont these?

I love how the spell description for Summon Scratch is "Summon the best boy". Because he absolutely is.

"Right here right now" right after talking about Dance Macabre, I see what you did there.

Dansa Macabre gives 5 Ghouls in my playthrue as a Necromancer.

Something to talk about, if you haven't yet, is getting the Chest Of The Mundane and putting Sussur Blooms in it so you can carry them safely.

If you are including temporary companions you could have mentioned that Flesh that is summonable in Shar's Gauntlet

I like how the list starts with `Look at this creepy-cute brain kitty! And this lovable dog!` and then segues into ``Reanimate this grieving woman`s husband into a rotting puppet in front of her!`` (/jk)

I befriended Scratch and I have him at my camp, but I never got the Summon Scratch spell. Is it supposed to just appear in your spell slots?

Great list, had to look up a few, but got most after a third playthrough^^. There is one more, in Act III - Mystic Carrion quest, if you help his servant Thrumbo, he rewards you in the end with a ring that summons a mummy. Not as mighty as flying gouls, but a good additions for necromancers arsenal.

I'm a little surprised summoning as many minions as possible wasn't some sort of achievement for Baldur's Gate.

With the Ogre summon. You HAVE to use it in Act 1. If you try to use it later, it will say that they are too far away.

Us is precious and I protect him every playthrough

Fun fact "Us" died in my first play through and he was still in act 2 waiting to come on an adventure.

Yes, you can have the Phase Spider Matriarch as a spore pet using Glut.
SEE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.
1. Find the Phase Spider Matriarch. (Blighted Village in the well)



2. Push her off the ledge into the chasm CANNOT SHOVE You must use something like "eldritch blast" or "Thunderwave" or Pushing Attacks, etc...
3. Recruit Glut into your party and go find where she fell, (if you cant find her in the underdark, use "Featherfall" and jump into the chasm you pushed her into)

Notably you can talk the dryder (I'm going to pretend that's spelled correctly) into giving up its lantern and moving on with its day even if you're with the Harper ambush as you're still the one to initiate it. Obviously requires some difficult dialogue checks, but I don't think they're any harder compared to going it alone.
