Homemade Cranberry Sauce
mix all ingredients together in a large saucepan except for the walnuts (you’ll add in the walnuts at the very end).
Bring to a boil. Once it comes to a boil, turn the heat down to medium low and stir frequently for several minutes. Then, turn the heat down to low on a simmer and cover for about 25 minutes. Stir periodically.
Now turn heat off completely and add in the walnuts. Stir well and pour into glass containers to cool. Or you can allow the cranberries to cool in the pan and then put into a plastic container to put into the refrigerator. Once cranberries are completely cooled, place in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours to chill.
Will last one week in the refrigerator.
Ingredients:
One 12 ounce package of cranberries
3/4 cup of sugar
One cup of orange juice
1/4 tsp orange peel zest
One pinch of salt
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
A dash of ground cloves
A pinch of ground nutmeg
A pinch of ground ginger
1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
