I don’t think I’ve ever heard such a disgraceful statement from one in a privileged position of power who I doubt has ever had any real hardship to face in his life. I wonder if his wife is being forced to find a job 40 hrs a week instead of being a mother and raising their small children - which is actually the most important job out there. Most People don’t want to go on benefits.. they are forced to due to the outrageously high cost of living and the abysmally low wages being paid in this country!! Most jobs don’t even pay enough to cover the rents and mortgages we are charged! Most claimants ARE the taxpayers being topped up !!!

They ain’t interested in the person I got sanctioned for sending away for 20 jobs in one week and then only found 10 following week apparently I never tried hard enough second week thanks to the tories

I blame bosses who do not want to employ anyone over 50 or 60. I am 61 now and on LCW which means low chance of work I think.

I feel so sorry for the young people today. There very few apprenticeships unlike my day in the 1970s. Then you could walk from one trade to another looking for the job that suited you. All this was swept away in the 1980s by Thatcher's government.

It must be very worrying when you have no money for food, no rent being paid so homelessness is a very real possibilty. This is really a very shabby way to treat the next generation.

I am currently going from ESA (contributions based) to universal credit due to needing UC to claim housing benefit which im having to get as my mum is throwing me out of her house and i cant afford to rent on my own on my current £500 a month benefits I get at the moment?!
I’ve been told I cannot claim housing benefit on ESA and have to go on UC if I want to be housed. I,m scared though I don’t think the UC will cover my food let alone the energy bills etc! Has anyone got any ideas as to what I can do?

This is heartbreaking

Having in the past dealt with Jobcentre this comes as no surprise to me. They were all too willing to sanction you for the slightest reason, I was warned two women in particular took pleasure in sanctioning people, in time I found out this was true. Rutherglen Jobcentre, avoid if possible.

this happened to me under blairs govt they are all the same don't think it'll get any better under starmer.
