I own a 2017 BMW X5 and it’s a pretty capable, dependable vehicle per people that have models older than mind. I think people are holding on to the old bmw stigma. It’s not to many companies today period that are putting out unreliable vehicles. Just saying.

If you want a car that is a mixture of everything either get the X5 or Cayenne or anything similar. Those cars are both luxury and quick and although the off-road capabilities are not insanely good, you still have the option to use it.

X5 at home in Namibia.. What a laugh... Sure, you can go off the tarmac in this... Once.. Maybe twice.. Youre going to get stuck, damage the vehicle and break it. And drifting a vehicle on 1 bar pressure? Yup BMW driver alright! If anything mechanical goes wrong out there, try get it fixed under warranty at BMW. Shit outta luck... Also change your tyres to non BMW approved ones and you will kiss your warranty goodbye. Yes that BS exists in South Africa. Wait till you get dodgy diesel as well.
Further driving like an arse in the wilderness is irresponsible. You damage the environment, fuck up your fancy car and wont be able to stop hitting wild animals. You guys dont belong there

seems capable anough ey! So what if the local guide has a landrover etc... Eyeing up a facelift X5 3.0i now over a dated looking Grand Cherokee for similar money. Some bargains to be had.

I think this is one of the first Video from Carfection that made me think, oh wow! they really up their games!

X5 does not have the ground clearance to be considered an off-road vehicle. This video is about selling BMWs with a host.

Bla bla bla... Hi-lux land rover land cruser etc... This bloke drive the X5 like a getaway car. Nobody drives a standard car like this of road. This is not a bmw who is equipped with stash and tires for Rally Dakar.
The X5 have a supreme 4wd system compare to porsche /vw/audi merc and range rover. Not that those cars are bad but this Carfection do not tell the truth.

Anyone who says " ooh these type of cars can't off-road " etc etc is only criticising either because they are talking about truly ridiculous expedition type offroading ,or its the entry of the green eyed monster..... for 99.999% of ordinary offroading situations i.e. country shows , farm tracks, emergency situations on road e.g. snowy downhills ,these cars are genuinely ( from much experience) more confidence inspiring and capable than a " standard" car ....here endeth the lesson :)

Bmw X5 is a solid all rounder, but on road it is great road holding

To all those making snarky comments, remember that an X5 absolutely obliterates the traditional 4x4s on the road in terms of speed and handling, and is a far more luxurious car all round. So it can do 80% of what they can off-road and kills them on the road. And no matter how much of an outdoor enthusiast you are, you still spend the vast majority of your time on the road. X5 for the win!

This video is for commercial only! Any of BMW X series can't go off road for real. The roads in this video can be done with any car. Maximum a BMW X can do is to drive a little faster on a wet highway. 😅😅😅
