The Best Bangles song
ОтветитьBangles version is the best, followed by Squire's version. This is a distant third.
ОтветитьHere because of Schrader's Chord!
ОтветитьRolling Stone has this song rated as one of the top 500 rock songs ever. I think it should be in the top 100.
ОтветитьMy parents had this record, I loved 13
Ответитьso many 90's UK bands mimicked this...became tiresome
ОтветитьIm British, these guys are better than the Beatles, Stones and any other rated bands.
ОтветитьLucky enough to have friends in record business, that I've been there since beginning
ОтветитьGreat song. Alex Chilton was such a creative soul but very troubled. The frontman for The Box Tops and Big Star. Be smooth
ОтветитьThis is a great version of the Bangles song from the 1986 album 'Different Light'. I had never heard it before.. or even knew about it. Thanks for posting.
ОтветитьThe guitar solo is classic.
Came across this video purely by accident.
A great tune!
Overrated is an understatement.
ОтветитьThis song just played on X-rock 103.9. They pull out songs like this all the time and just play them. Heard The Move, Hawkwind & Them recently, as well.
ОтветитьIt’s OK, pretty good, but I wouldn’t put it stronger than that. And slightly pitchy in places. Not the revelation I’d been led to expect.
ОтветитьI never get tired of listening to September Gurls💕 rip LX, gone 14 years 💔 on 3/17. Thank you friend
ОтветитьAlex Chilton played a solo gig at the Cas Rock Cafe.. literally at end of my street in Edinburgh.. in mid 90s. I never went...had never heard of him. Coupla weeks later I bought a computer and the internet told me how many of the bands I loved were influenced by Big Star. Filed under "regrets I've had a few"
ОтветитьAlex Chilton died of a heart attack and didn't go to the hospital after shortness of breath earlier in the week because he didn't have health insurance.
ОтветитьCustomer... I'm in love...:)
ОтветитьCame here by accident, and all my stress just flowed out of shoulders. That’s Big Star…
ОтветитьThat Bridge...❤️
ОтветитьHi Teenage Fanclub
ОтветитьThis is a jewel in the dirt. If you found it, whether by chance or design, your life is just a wee bit better. How it ever got lost in the dust in the first place will forever be beyond me. I'm thankful for the internet bringing brilliance to the masses. If they look hard enough.
ОтветитьI only heard this song once in any sort of broad media sense; That 70's Show. Good for the producers to slip in a gem, beyond the use of the theme song.
ОтветитьSea horse
ОтветитьChilton was like an acceptable version of a Lou Reed type character or possibly a small town alt hero anywho you will always feel young when listening to AC Big Star in that you will always be passionate, awkward, hopeful, sad, underdog, hurt, horny, daydreamy and far from mature. I've done the whole astrology thing like AC plus almost blew my mind out with addiction and mental health issues so he is a posterboy for everyone just achin to be...AC not misunderstood just not hugely popular like Elton John or others...we need AC to remind us we probably will get 4th or even last place but its okay because music is built around pathos...sweet n sour be his name.
ОтветитьSounds like a song from the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack
Ответитьlove them
ОтветитьJust have to love the song and the band. I have to toss the Bangles some love for their cover of this song too.
ОтветитьNever heard of them til now and Ima child of the 60s. ??
ОтветитьIt's a good song but the Bangles version with Michael Steele's far superior vocals blow this out of the water. The version they did for AOL in 2003 is the best version imo.
ОтветитьPerfect. A perfect pop song. AC sings it perfectly...the instrumentation is iconic.
Ответитьmusic genius - gone too soon :)
ОтветитьBrilliant drumming
ОтветитьMy band covers this song. I insisted. Alex Chilton was a master...the whole band....sigh
ОтветитьI was born in ‘71 and, believe it or not… I was hipped to these cats by The Black Crowes
ОтветитьHow is it possible for a song to simultaneously sound like a product of its time and 20 years in the future? Sheer genius and perfection from a criminally underrated band.
Ответитьone of them perfect songs
ОтветитьMy favourite big star song is “ thirteen “. It immediately takes me back to my school days. I love reminiscing with music.
ОтветитьHeard this song for the first time yesterday. Listening to it nonstop as penance. Glorious song.
ОтветитьI remember this song….. my cousin Kirk got it from Columbia House on an 8 track that he later gave to me.
ОтветитьBeautiful. ❤️
ОтветитьThis is an early 80s Tom Petty song blueprint.
ОтветитьThis is so good.
ОтветитьMC CABES L.A...1990S
ОтветитьThe bangles do one of the best versions of this song
ОтветитьAh, so that’s where Teenage Fanclub got their sound!
ОтветитьThis song always makes me want to cry. It’s too beautiful for this ugly world.
ОтветитьThe Bangles did a fine cover.
ОтветитьThis could be released next week and it would sound like current indie - timeless stuff. It's a crime this band isn't more well know...
