I always want to watch your videos because you're just too funny! Okay, I admit, I also learn a lot ;-)
ОтветитьBruh lmaooooo Love the Jim Carrey part
ОтветитьI have to set that up ASAP!! THANK YOU!
ОтветитьYou can do the same thing with the XT3. You can set a button for toggling face and eye detection on/off with one press
ОтветитьAm I missing something? On my Fuji I can just customize that function to the button nearest to my thumb
ОтветитьSaw one of the reviews of the firmware update a few months ago for the R and RP where it did a good job of automatically switching between face and eye on a moving subject (DP Review's) ... no button to push, yo.
ОтветитьOk
ОтветитьOn Fuji I can just customize that function to the button so this is wrong..
ОтветитьOn my fuji xt30 i have a button for face/eye af, and i also have a button for face select for taking photos of group people.
ОтветитьThe sad thing about Fujifilm is that they're removing buttons from the camera, rather than giving more e.g. the removal of the D-Pad from the X-T30, X-Pro3 and X100V.
ОтветитьI’ve set my function button on my X-T3 to enable or disable the EYE AF. Does the same thing as the Sony, if not similar.
ОтветитьI wouldn't know...can't relate...I have Fuji...LOL....love ya Omar!
ОтветитьSince when has photographers has become so obsessive with eye focus is that’s to 👀 looking at a picture.
ОтветитьOn Fuji you can toggle eye AF on or off, isn't this the same thing?
ОтветитьEye auto focus. Did you know before that technology was created there wasn't a single decent photo taken with the eye in focus, true story. The winner will always be the skilled photographer.
ОтветитьOn Nikon when the eye autofocus is on and you don't want to focus on the eye/face, by hitting the OK button the camera switches to single focus mode. Very handy also.
ОтветитьI have the swipe bar on the eosr mapped to slide between eye af and single point. Tap right changes the single point size. I can almost instantly change between the two to capture the butterfly shot.
Ответить.....for the Canon EOSR you can just have face detection ON and in case you dont want it you can set the focus point on override by setting it via touch to the area you want with your thumb.....so that is very fast, very easy, and you can get the shot with the butterfly :-).....so your point with CanonEOSR is not valid.... (to defend poor Canon, mimimi)
ОтветитьThis is the most useful function I have ever had on a camera - can't understand why other companies didn't implement thsi yet!
ОтветитьI'm slightly confused here. Since you're using a Sony, wouldn't it be even easier to use that fancy subject tracking mode where you activate focus tracking on whatever you like and then the camera seamlessly figures out whether it has a face, eyes, or not? With this you wouldn't even have to figure what focus button to use since you only need one.
ОтветитьI dont know how sony works, but I set a button on the xt30 and x100f to switch eye af on and off with a single press.
Ответитьsorry i read your comment later, dont know the actual difference though. but the one thing i only see fuji does is 3 different minimum shutter speed for the auto iso, just a flick on the front dial and i change from 1/125 for everything, or 1/60 for when subject isnt moving, or 1/15 for when i can be really steady (thats on x100f 23mm lens).
and thank you for your helpful vids..
I have these focus options mapped to the slide bar on the Canon R. But alas.
ОтветитьSwitching mode is so 2000, the best should be always respect user override by touching the touchscreen, Panasonic does it best but they don't use PDAF, while with newer Sony bodies with real time tracking the camera usually is smart enough to focus on the right thing, if not just touch to focus or initiate tracking, Sony may have the worst menus and handling, but it gets the job done beautifully.
ОтветитьHaving the AF set to face/eye auto on the X-T2 you can turn the dial on front to MF and have back button center point AF.
ОтветитьPeople can say what they want about the Sonys' extremely robust menu system, but the fact that you can program almost all of the buttons to almost any function is incredible!
I realized that if I could have 3 different Focus Area modes assigned to 3 different buttons, then I can work much faster for when a situation may call for me to use different Focus Area modes rather than having to choose one through the Menu each time I needed to switch.
So I looked into it and discovered the AF Area Regist. function. It is explained in the camera's manual and there are plenty of sites and videos on it so I won't go into how to set it up, but here is how I now have my technicals set:
AEL is considered my primary Focus Area that is currently set to AF-Tracking Small (but can change if I need it to) so that it can follow a moving subject or if I need to compose while focusing.
AF-On is set to Eye-AF.
AF Area Regist. is set to AF-Area Center Small for when I need to use a pinpoint single spot focus for details or for when the tracking isn't consistent,
which is set to the Center button on the wheel.
I also have Manual focusing with Peeking enabled set to the trash button for whenever I'd need it like when shooting through a fence.
These settings definitely help during weddings, portraits, and sports shoots where there are a variety of moments happening. Precious seconds saved by not having to go through the Menu or Function buttons.
This is a very good point. I switched to manual Leica glass for a while exclusively because I was tired of AF choosing for me. Now it's at least smart enough to get it wrong less, but still my X-T2 has ruined just enough shots for me that I don't feel loyal to it. X100V here I come.
I still won't go back to Sony, not since the A7II was such a dud.
The Touch Bar on the Eos R does this. Eye af on the left and single on the right. You can swipe to pick different modes. Boom video debunked.
ОтветитьFor those photographers who wants everything easy and ignorant to theories and skills about photography such as hyper focal distance, etc. it might.
ОтветитьKlipsch speaker? COOL!
Ответить..they are so busy bashing Sony, they will just continue to look stupid...
ОтветитьI wouldn't have been able to state it better, Omar! I agree 100%. My dad's got the Nikon Z6 and trying to use eye AF is driving him nuts switching between modes. On the other hand my A7RII's eye AF button broke down because of internal corrosion thanks to the great Sony build quality. What gives?
ОтветитьWith Canon, I have back button focus and eye af by default. The moment I want to focus elsewhere I just tap where I want to. Done!
ОтветитьI had face autofocus set to the front function button on my X-H1, but after this video, I set it to the AE-L button. It's pretty fast since my thumb can cover the button and the AF stick at the same time.
ОтветитьI think you can override the eye-AF on the canon by just touching and dragging on the display. Can somebody confirm?
ОтветитьLeaked images of the X-T4 show a focus on/off button.
ОтветитьThis video deserves an extra thumbs up for showing the Jim Carrey part. (I'm currently in a Jim Carrey hype).
ОтветитьI always change ael button to toggle on/off face af on my fuji
ОтветитьSo why is Jim not feeling good anymore?
ОтветитьIn the xt20 (and probably in other fuji) I can use the face detection and switch to point by switching to manual focus and using the back button focus. This is one more button than the sony but it seems reasonable...
Also I use the AF-L button for focus check. If fuji was allowing to set it to different functions as function of the focus mode, I would set it to focus check in manual focus, and for non-face focus in af-s/c
Ace Ventura always wins hands down!😂😂😂
ОтветитьI shoot Sony my fiancé canon and I was really trying to figure out this for the R5/R6 and found your video and I think this is actually a big deal for wedding And event photography it’s a fast paced environment and I really hope canon steals it! It just makes much more sense so if you just want eye af set area to wide and its priority to eye af and it’s the same as it was or map it to a button so you can select a different focus area (I typically use expand flexible spot). Thanks for the video
ОтветитьThanks Omar, a good example of how features are one thing, how they are implemented are another.
ОтветитьA Fuji user testing out an Sony A7iii (for shots of my kids!!) stumbles on a famous Fuji YTer’s channel giving out Sony AF tips.. 😎 I will be using the AFL for FD but I’m not sure I can give up my AEL button. I like to lock exposure (not press mode) and recompose. Any tips on a better button for center focus or how I could better use shortcut for AEL.. I’m open/minded. Thank you for all of your videos.
ОтветитьSteal as they usually do. Between I'm Fuji user
ОтветитьI still like fuji one. As holding that button in sony and then pressing shutter button is a hassle. Fuji i have set it at as Fn for eye . so one click and it switches
ОтветитьNahhh if the canon cant focus if there isnt a face, u can always touch to focus the screen
ОтветитьThe Fujifilm I sample in the video is an XT2. As pointed out by you guys, the newer XT3 allows you change between single focus and eye detection MUCH faster. However, it is still a toggle to switch the modes, not an active AF button.
