Corps of Discovery Review: Don't Let Your Corps Become a Corpse

Would love to try this. Pulled my pledge out from the campaign because what was offered in addition to the base game seemed bloated. Hoping a con in New England has a copy to try out soon.

I couldn’t get a feel for the gameplay before this review. I’m glad you all liked it since the comics are so good. I’m glad they made a god game based on an excellent comic. It’s now on my shortlist of games to get. Thank you for reviewing this one.

The video is great, and I will buy the game if they sell it here.
On a side note, I can't get over the stupid pronunciation rule (corps), but that has nothing to do with the game.

I’ve been looking forward to this review! I backed it after Mike’s playthru/preview because I love deduction and it sounded fun… have not pulled it out yet- a little intimidated, and a little carried away with Dice Throne Missions and Spirit Island this spring. Maybe in the fall when the weather turns some hot tea and deduction will be fun in the evenings…

I had to trash can dive for the cover sheet too, luckily it was right on top and I didn’t crinkle it. I did the tutorial level but havent dove into the main game yet. Im glad its well received!

I'm glad to hear this game is good, because I am a fan of the comic (and I'm glad that you're all intrigued to read it!). I decided against backing it because I'm not enough of a deduction fan to get my money's worth, but I definitely would like to try it.

I was interested during the campaign. I’d have backed if it were based on the historical Corps I’d Discovery. I was quite disappointed to find it based on a comic universe instead.

No need to use medicine. At least not in Fauna scenarios. This game should be almost impossible to lose if you focus on deduction and challenge cards do not completely screw you.


For difficulty I recommend Flora and further scenarios. Fog is crazy fun :D

I've played it 4 times so far, 1 intro game and 1 Fauna game with 2 different people. Did not win either of the Fauna maps. Loved it, and can't wait to play more.

Seeing Dr. Reiner Knizia on Mike’s background always cracks me up.😂 You should put insense or candles… erm, maybe a bad idea having those boardgames. 😆 Make a separate altar for him.

Joey has developed incredibly good - love the man!

I'm getting Tiwanaku (the Sudoku aspect) meets Lost Expedition or Robinson Crusoe. As with Tiwanaku concern is potentially remembering the maps, although shouldnt be an issue with 20 distinct ones in the basegame.

Is there a point to scoring? Seems like you beat the challenge or don’t?

I love this game so much. Weirdl, this is the only game I play solo. I have not invited my kids to play with me and i think tats because I have been enjoying it too much on my own.

I will say that the main game is far more interesting and engaging than the intro scenario. I played with one other player and had a great time. Any more than that and it will feel like you don't get to do much.
