Great video with information that wasnt so readily available on even authorized dealer websites! I appreciate the thought and work that went into this comparison, thank you!

To me…… Rolex is a watch for people that don’t know watches. Rolex is far over priced, not all that accurate and needs expensive service more regularly than any other watch. Most of the people I know that have a Rolex do not like them. It’s just a status symbol.

Rolex needs to do something about the end links, like switching to female ones...
A Sub - Tudor comparison would be a better match because that's where Rolex are being refreshing with design. The Sub is stuck in the mud stylistically and won't be changing.

Buy a watch to sell it? I guess it's not a terrible idea, that way you can get that lovely Oris dial and a few grand in your pocket! If I was spending real money, though, I'd get the Oris as I don't want to spend my life on a mythical 'list' for the Rolex (I don't like the cyclops, either).

Added to that, the Oris has one of the loveliest dials I've seen, it's like looking down into a blue sea lit by sunlight.

Love everything about my Sea Dweller. Love the style of my Breitling Avenger II Sea Wolf…. but absolutely HATE its ETA movement! How does this Oris 400 movement measure against the ETA’s?

Tudor Black Bay 41mm is more special than both in my opinion. Looks similar to the Rolex, but got more color and more character.

I much prefer my Oris World timer to my Rolex. The Oris is larger and visually stunning. It's also extremely well made and has stood up to extensive world travel wear on a motorcycle. My Constellation is nice but a bit of a latte watch.

All recent Rolex watches technically use Gay Freres bracelets, but Rolex did purchase that company I think in the 90s. Idk if that counts as in house

The only reason why you buy Rolex is for the status. Performance, materials and design they are almost the same but the price difference is huge.

I'd buy a Rolex as an investment. But it's just so boring. I can't imagine, being into watches as I am, wanting it to wear. I can imagine not being into watches n thinking it'll make me look rich. I've handled one, it didn't make me want one but I appreciate the built quality. It's like an original BMW 5 series cos it's never changed externally but it's a classic. But unobtainable unless u buy a very expensive watch. So many other great options. Like a car or something.

I own an Oris Titan C on the Oris rubber strap along with a Rolex Deep Sea Sea Dweller and I must say the Oris gets the most wrist time. It is such a great watch.

Am I the only watch enthusiast who criticises Rolex accuracy? I've had three over the years and all, including the 50th anniversary Sea-Dweller, have been a disappointment. My 16610 was shockingly inaccurate, even after a completely new movement 53 weeks after purchase! The original disintegrated - literally. The AD was embarrassed as he sent it back to Rolex. I dumped it after several failed attempts at regulation.

I then bought a new GMT2C in gold and stainless. It's a beauitiful watch but as inaccurate as the Sub. It also had a faulty bezel that was so misaligned it was irritating. It took Rolex two attempts to fix it. The Sub and GMT both gained 6 seconds a day, barely matching COSC rating.

The Sea-Dweller should have been an improvement, but it, too, has a faulty bezel, which moves round at random on the wrist. If worn in bed, it will advance two clicks overnight, which is ridiculous. This one LOSES six seconds a day and it's on its way back to Rolex under warranty. I have a fake Rolex President bought for me by a friend in New York in 2000. It keeps almost perfect time after 22 years and cost £7 ($10 at the time). Seriously!!

I have the Oris Aquis 400 and love it. I also have a Fortis chronograph with an ETA movement which keeps superb time. The most accurate self-winding wrist furniture I ever owned was an Omega Speedmaster chronograph. I regret selling it. Rolex - no thanks!

I am a huge fan of Oris but as you mentioned in your review.. it's more cheerful and when you start thinking of dropping 3K on a watch... you want to be dead f-ing serious in my books... I love cal 400 in the Oris but I must say I'd find it hard to resist not joining the Rolex club.... it's just more versatile... Rolex could also be that one watch. not the Aquis I'm afraid. Awesome review by the way, thank you!
