Sublime. Wonderful vocals. Calm, appropriate, understated, collaborative musicianship. WOW many times over....
ОтветитьIt reminds me of such a cool time as a kid. My parents in their 20's. Convertable Impalas, big wheels, hot wheels. No cussing all the time because of stress. What a magical time to be a kid. Of course the Vietnam war was raging. But that was on the other side of the world. The 1970's changed a lot things. It added a lot more stress to our family financially. My dad ended up passing away at a young age. Its songs like this that take me back to a good place. It warms my heart.
ОтветитьIt’s a serious vow song there are marriages that last 70 years!❤ for example
ОтветитьBeautiful song ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ответитьhuge hit for 2 decades
ОтветитьThe Association were as good as other '60s Pop groups who are better known today. And they were just as popular back then. They had four classic radio hits that define '60s sunshine Pop: Cherish, Windy, Along Comes Mary, and this one.
Keep in mind that they were mainly a live performing band; their actual records were made by a handful of LA Studio musicians now known as the Wrecking Crew.
The late studio great Larry Knechtel played keyboards on this one. He also played bass on the Byrds' "Mister Tambourine Man"; lead guitar on Bread's "Guitar Man"; and piano on Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water." Among others.
All their hits are even better on their LIVE album . these guys could play .
ОтветитьI prefer the Blue Swede 1973 version.
ОтветитьAnybody remember the movie “Goodbye Columbus”? The Association did the theme song. It’s a banger (for this group)!
I like the upbeat songs; the 2 popular slower love songs often mentioned got overdone for me.
I’ll take Windy and Along Comes Mary any day. ACMary lyrics are not easy to sing!
But “Everything That Touches You” is up there, too. Also “Time for Living”. Got to stop now, there’s too many.
This song was a monster hit in the 60's, it still is. I'm glad I got to experience this when I was a teenager when it was released. Radio stations played the hell out of it. S
ОтветитьOne of my favorite songs ever. Gorgeous harmonies and moving instrumental performances. Really hits a spot. Also worth checking out is Donny Hathaway's version. Very different, but also beautiful.
ОтветитьThin Lizzy / Little Girl In Bloom. You guys will love it.
ОтветитьSomeone once asked me what I thought the greatest slow dance song of all time is and without hesitation I said this one.
Ответитьthe addrisi brothers wrote it as well as the theme to nanny and the professor
ОтветитьImagine how great a song is when you're listening to it for maybe the 200th time 55+ years after it was recorded and still experience all the love and joy you felt listening to it when you were a child or teen. This song is magical and perfect.
ОтветитьOne of my favorite songs ever!!!!!
ОтветитьExcellent review… you are genuine.
ОтветитьYou should check out a group known as The Lovin Spoonful, Do You Believe In Magic! Thanks guys, Merry Christmas 🎄💕👍
ОтветитьBMI number 2 most played song of the CENTURY. Yes, the Wrecking Crew worked on their albums, but they played this perfectly live (call it up on the Ed Sullivan Show)
Ответить1967 was a great year in music.
ОтветитьNever My Love was a big hit back in the day...
ОтветитьLike Tommy James & the Shondells songs!!! Love❤
ОтветитьThey had several hits, all worth reacting to.
ОтветитьI think they had the 2nd most top 10 hits.
ОтветитьI have an original label 45rpm single of Along Comes Mary
ОтветитьThis was my wedding song, in July 2023. Who says oldies don't make a comeback? ❤😊
Ответить❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьI think the magic of this song lies in the questions that we’ve all had before when we were in love.
“You ask me if there'll come a time
When I grow tired of you”
“You wonder if this heart of mine
Will lose its desire for you”
“You say you fear I'll change my mind”
Whether it’s a guy asking the questions to a girl or a girl asking the questions to a guy, those feelings of vulnerability and doubt are universal to all of us.
Thank you! Finally! I used to bug you guys a lot to cover this!
ОтветитьIf anyone hasnt heard their awesome song "Wasnt It Bit Like Now" check.. it.. out !
ОтветитьGreat song!!!
ОтветитьLove, love, love the Association!!! 💞💞💞
ОтветитьThe Association was in the perfect time for their music. There were almost as many types of music as there were radio channels in the late 60s.
ОтветитьHave you tried the Jersey Boys song list yet?
ОтветитьKilling it
ОтветитьChic Rock. I think they forgot the it's were over.
ОтветитьMy first Band Jr High we had two songs! Never My Love really fast and Never My Love really slow!😂
ОтветитьMy Childhood definitely 😢 one of my favorite groups, "Cherish" my favorite of their's and "Along Comes Mary" and "Windy" this group always played with great intensity, they were very popular on radio and the Variety Shows, I'm so glad you liked them you owe to yourself to hear more you won't regret it 😂 Peace Gary ✌️ your 70 year old forever Young Hippie 😊
ОтветитьThis was a really great discussion, you guys.
ОтветитьOur wedding song 35 years ago! 😎 (Give "Along Comes Mary" a spin!)
ОтветитьThe 60s, the greatest❤
ОтветитьThe legendary Wrecking Crew supplied the instrumentation on this and many other tracks recorded in L.A. at the time. Check out the documentary about this group of session musicians.
ОтветитьThis was our first dance song at our wedding reception in 1987. 37+ years later and I haven't stopped loving her. Great reaction guys!
ОтветитьThe association is what happens when Choir dudes make a pop band. And I am here for it! Now listen to Requiem for the Masses
ОтветитьI absolutely love this song n watching you'll love it too , great video as always
ОтветитьSaw them in 2018 and got to meet 2 original members. They still were great they were really one of those underrated 60s groups like turtles and buckinghams who eventually got more credit as they deserved..
ОтветитьIt's the kind of song that couples say, "this is our song."
ОтветитьThe Association: Greatest Hits came out in 1968. I was 7. That is the first album I ever played over and over again. When the wind is blowing outside, I still sing, "And Windy has stormy skies!" My kids, who've never heard any Association song, can sing right along with me! Thanks, mom, for playing these beautiful albums!
ОтветитьYou are finally getting to one of my favorite bands.
ОтветитьAn amazing group. They were a little wimpy for me at the time-the guy playing the flute or whatever. But I appreciate there great songs now.
