Daaamn this was such a suprise, who would think Francesca is gay. I always assumed Eloise to turned out to be lesbian, much more than Francesca.

What the book readers claim that Francesca and John supposed to have a truly loving relationship. Now it seems she will play with his feelings while falling for his cousin. This will make Francesca into an unlikable character. I am all for a queer character but book readers are disappointed about the complete change to this character. Not the queer relationship but the lack of love for John and the lack of coverage of her infertility issues since she cannot have a child with Michaela.

Can I recommend you a series?

The scene actually makes a lot of sense, because in the book, Fransescas husband passes away and then she ends up woth his cousin (though a man in the book). For context, Francescas husbands cousin has always been in love with her but since Francesca wants children the cousin runs away for a bit. The cousin then comes back ready to commit but Francesca has a hard time to have children. I believe she also had a miscarriage when she was with her deceased husband too.

Nancy, I love how you share otherwise-overlooked queer content. How you find it all is still a mystery to me 🤔 Bridgerton, while very popular, was not on my list of shows to watch. I was so thrown off and offended for Francesca by the fact her husband did not introduce her to his own cousin and regarded her almost like a stranger in this moment, that I completely misunderstood the moment and didn't see the queer eye, I just thought she was upset by the coldness of her husband and the apparently closeness he has with another woman, even if she's a cousin yeah. Maybe that will be part of it. Excited to see. But I was so thrown off by his aloofness here in total disrespect of his wife after the way he had treated her and her family so well thus far.

I did not like this change at all. I know adaptations are needed, but I do not care for radical changes. In my opinion the author must be respected. If she wrote the story in a certain way, that way it should be. Fortunately I have all the books and I can enjoy the stories as they are.

Casting for gender swaps is a very challenging task.
