Loving my Suunto EON Core but it doesn’t support Buhlmann only RBDG. Seriously thinking of switching to the Perdix AI.

One thing I didn’t hear mentioned about the peregrine is the lack of AI, I picked one up to try it out, also to hand off to my other family members that are recreational divers, the biggest draw back is that lack of AI, to add you have to buy a separate( somewhat pricey) console to stack it on top of an SPG. Like most I’d rather just look at one screen for everything vs keep going back and forth look at pressure. To which I agree the AI perdix is the next step up for that problem.

I just wanted to thank you for spending the time to speak on topics that are of interest to the diving community at large and more specifically the technical diving community. I have found your content to be very informative and entertaining. If you had the time I would love to hear your thoughts on the wrist slate mount for the Petral computer you showed in this video. I was just in Edds shop last week and noticed them hanging on the wall, but didn't have a chance to look at them. I would love to know how it works and how it has worked for you in practice. Safe diving sir.

I have a Perdix as my primary. I use a i450t in gauge mode as a backup, with wet-notes, when doing deco dives. I'll get a second perdix at some point.

One thing to mention, Shearwater's interface is really well thought out. There's only two buttons, menu and select, and when you're in the water, the menu changes to put the things you're most likely to use right up front. Switching gasses only takes a few presses, and there's no extraneous stuff to deal with. On deco dives, you're task loaded enough that the interface should be as simple as possible.

I used to use a Galileo Sol way back when, and that thing gave you far too many choices of what to do at any given time. It's terrible because there's one thing you're going to do 99% of the time, which is switch gasses. Weird alerts and automatic warnings just distract from whatever you actually want to do at the moment.

For recreational divers, you want to do even fewer things, and your ability to task load is even less, so more buttons and gizmos are even worse.

I have an old Petrel as my main computer, and a bungee mounted Teric as back up. (The bungee mount is brilliant for dry suits - way easier than the straps.)

Been trying to find directions on how Edd mounted his DC on the slate. Can’t tell clearly on here, does anyone have any suggestions?

Be mindful that the peregrine does not have a compass which the perdix does

I'm still debating whether to get the Perdix AI or the Teric first. (Will probably get both at some point to have a backup).
I like the Teric for the 4 tactile button UI, that it vibrates, and the AMOLED display.
I like the Perdix for its larger screen, and the easily replaceable battery so you're not dependent on a power source to recharge the unit. If the Perdix AI came with a vibration option it would be an easy choice.

I wouldn't be wearing the Teric as a daily watch. I have other watches for that purpose. So whichever one I go for, it would only be used for diving.

Which has the largest numbers display? I’m a recreational dive and enjoy the basic information, but like the transmitter function. I have a ScubaPro G2, but the numbers aren’t as big as i thought

Worst “review” I’ve ever seen. Might as well have said, “I like them” and read the prices. Barely talked about features.

I think trust they really missed the boat with the peregrine. Not having ai and a compass. It is easy enough to turn off features in programming. If it had that it would be a phenomenal computer.

you have to see which one passes 500 dives, I've had 2 petrels, I and II reach 500 it doesn't work anymore, send it to maintenance, they do an upgrade, it comes back, and it doesn't work anymore, unfortunately my TERIC went to the same path and worse, it didn't even last 100 dives, it already broke down, they are excellent until they continue to work, for those who dive once a month, maybe it will be good

@figueiredodiver
@figueiredodiver - 12.03.2023 00:04

yes, I think it's luck, I have dive computers back here and from students that I've been using for 10 years, 15 years and I only change the battery, but it's frustrating for us to invest and when you see it, it looks like a disposable computer where the factory itself charges you $350.0 each time you go there and ends up going to the museum of used diving parts, there's no way to keep sending and paying every time you go and come back where even the factory can't say what happens to something produced by them , and it's not misuse, they are dives at the same scuba diver level, and 3 computers that don't work from shearwater is a lot of coincidence

my TERIC with 3 months the menu stopped working, it was sent to the factory, they solved the problem and came back, now it works from time to time yes and from time to time no, that is, you have to dive with 2 because it is not reliable , it is not known what time of the dive it will stop working, you can still use it as a wristwatch to see the time

The Shearwater Perdix 2 computer coupled with the Shearwater Swift transmitter is the only combo a rec diver will ever need.

Buy once, cry once 😭

I have a Suunto Zoop and it has the features as the Peregrine and it was $250. I don't see any reason to get a Peregrine. If I get into deco diving or light tec diving I'll Probably just go with the Perdix or Teric
