What was a big plot hole was he practically spent 23 years in isolation… and 10 minutes later he’s acting like he’s perfectly fine. That’s not normal.

This was the dumbest part of the movie, which had a lot of dumb parts. But 23 years?? 23???? That was too much. That man would be insane.

Some powerful comments on here..however i can't help wonder if people realise that this isnt a documentary?

My dumbass didn’t know this movie came out in 2014. I’ve always thought that it was a 2017 movie.

How did the ship have enough food to sustain him for 23 years? They’re trying to use the emotional weight of him waiting that long but it seems they don’t truly understand how long that actually is.

I've been battling anxiety and depression as part of PTSD for over a 15 years now. Feeling alone is another symptom. I cannot imagine keeping myself being completely alone for over 23 years.

Only so few movies draw a reaction like this. So glad we watched this movie on the big screen.

I love the scene where Matt Damon’s character is woken up and gets so emotional, but I think that should have happened to this character here rather.
