Great video as always. My favorite part of this is watching the crowd get hyped and excited. The amount of support and love they give must have been an amazing feeling for the players.

It's kinda incredible how legendary that Matt Turk, DTysonator, and Jack Wedge are in the MTPO community.

Matt Turk was the champion of MTPO, holding all 14 records before Sinister1 and Zallard1 came into the picture and started knocking them down. His times set a bar that was considered unreal back then, but have now been taken down by at least a decimal (except the four limits).

DTysonator is a Mike Tyson champion. Not only being among the first in NA to TKO Mike, but eventually was able to practically trivialize blindfolded Tyson fights before others could.

Jack Wedge not only was WR holder himself back then, but had found strats that helped take out Turk's times, and he would be the first verified victor of a Blindfolded Single Segment run, creating the Buffer Strategies that would ensure that you could consistently knock down everyone.

The great thing about the speedrunning community is how players who actively compete with one another also share strategies and work together to help each other improve. It's not uncommon to see a speedrunner actually happy for another player who just took their world record. If only the rest of the world had a speedrunner's mindset.

Summoning Salt holds all the WR for punch out as of 7-21-23 that’s is literally insane!!

It's kinda cool how the goal basically changed over time.

First, was to reach the half-way point, just to show that playing the game blindfolded is doable, but with limited success.

Next, was to power through the second half and reach Mike Tyson, showing that although challenging, you can in fact play Punch-Out blindfolded.

Then, it was beating Mike Tyson, proving that the entire game can be beaten blindfolded.

Lastly, it was to beat it consistently and quickly, bringing its speedrunning community to life

Im in my 40's . Ran across a nintendo with mtpo at a friends and starting playing for the first time since i was 11.

I couldnt believe it. I made it all the way to tyson on my 1st try. And beat him on my second.

I had never beat tyson before. But for real. It was like the moves were programmed into me.

Watching this video when it came out 4 years ago and re watching it in 2023 one thing i have realized about SSalt... He is consistent... Nice job (again) bro.

That blindfold seems a tad sketch

Little does everyone know this whole episode is wrong. The original Matt turek wrs for punch out were all blindfolded and he was using an atari controller

SummoningSalt is currently holding world record on 6/7 major categories on Mike Tyson's Punch Out
Single Segment, Another World Circuit, RTA, Blindfolded, 90 Minute Challenge, Tyson Challenge

The only category he isn't participating in is Single Segment High Score which is basically point farming as much as you can on every fight

As a lot of older comments point out, SummoningSalt holds the record for a lot of Punch out catacories. as of four months ago, he holds all world records besides high-score

games i beat so far well blindfolded, wrestlemania 19 a game im already top player in, soul calibur 2 another game i have WR in, street fighter4 whitch is another game im 1 of the top players in, ansmash bros not top player in, and some IL blindfolded WRS in dadish harry potter and cat bros.

So you something im not familiar with, you say that super macho mans spin attack only deals half of your hitpoints if you get hit. The version i had knocked you out with around 5% chance to get up.

If you knocked him out he would always start with a spin attack too, around 7-13 spins you just had to dodge , or your run was over almost every try.

You wanna know a fun fact about h the person who owns the store? He was the first person ever to beat mike tyson blindfolded in super punch out

It's awesome hearing about the journey these speed runners went on to beat Mike Tyson's punch out. I can't imagine the amount of skill involved to do something like that. Great video Salt.

What’s crazy is that I checked the leaderboards and SummoningSalt holds the record in every full game category as well as individual Mike Tyson. Idk why I thought he just makes great videos my man’s really out here grinding
