You are professional 😮😮😮😮😮 thanks
ОтветитьI hit the like button after only seeing the first 5 seconds; I saw that big American flag in the background and I knew you're an awesome dude and this video is going to be good.
ОтветитьBlack and decker will get the job done but id recommend looking at the drills at harbor freight like bauer or hercules. They are cheap and tough as nails. I’ve personally used my hercules drill to drill through 5/8 inch steel many times and i still have it. It will be so hot its smoking and burning my hand and i just let it cool down and it keeps on going. Some of the tools at harbor freight are awesome.
ОтветитьUhhhh...helllo? If you grow a beard you won't NEED any safety gear! You're invincible!!!! Hahahahahaha
ОтветитьI use one of the angle sharpeners from Amazon for doing bevels I just cut a file down to fit it
ОтветитьWell explained. Thank you.
ОтветитьWhy use mustard instead of vinager? For the density, mustard isn't very viscous and will stay where you put it instead of being very viscous and flowing right off like water as vinegar would.
ОтветитьI been wondering how to get the center of the spine and edge marked, thanks for the drill bit tip❤
ОтветитьHey, I typically don't comment or leave reviews. But BRO. What an Excellent video. You showed us how to get into knife making on a budget. The different ways to do things. Sources on techniques other people have done. And you brought science into it to show us the quality and how strong the material or knife you made could hold up to some grueling punishment. Very well done man. Subscribed for sure.
ОтветитьJesus those cutting discs are thicc
ОтветитьEasy KA'nife making explained..excellent vid..
Teaching 9 outta 10
Beard 10 outta 10..
Man my dad made me a knife when I was a kid an I lost it bummed me out
ОтветитьIt's pronounced Goff (duch name)
ОтветитьI’m just getting into bladesmithing and am fortunate enough to have bought a forge, anvil and belt grinder, but I love the work you’ve done with just basic tools. I was feeling pretty overwhelmed when it came to fitting the knife scales, but your technique in this video is very approachable. Thank you!
ОтветитьI think it would be cool to do a video like this but using the cheapest tools that will make it easier to make a knife.
What I mean is instead of a hacksaw to cut the shake out, how would a cheap harbor freight bandsaw do? Instead of spending 5 hours using a bastard file how would a 1x30 belt sander do? Instead of the cheapest drill you can buy, would a cheap drill press do well?
You’re using gear that would make knife crafting easier, but instead of buying $1,000 machines you’re seeing how well a cheaper version would do from start to finish.
Man, thank you so much for the information that you provide for those of us who need it. I made my first knife by watching your videos and I'm surprised how much I love the finished product. Thank You!!!
ОтветитьThank you for showing this! Really been wanting to try making my own knives. Can anyone tell me roughly what the cost ended up being for all of what was in this build?
ОтветитьJust want to stick someone with my knife not win a beauty contest
ОтветитьI got a piece of glass I use to make lines on it a long time ago
ОтветитьGreat teaching video again👍 You have definitely given me the confidence to try a few of these techniques before I commit to buying a whole load of forging equipment and tools. Great looking little knife too. Thank you sir. 👍
ОтветитьWas this knife 1/4"
ОтветитьIs there a way to keep your bevel even when using a sander? I have a belt sander, but it seems like using the file jig would be far more accurate than trying to keep it even by feel on my belt sander.
ОтветитьWhat do we use to temper the blade if we don't have something like he had?
ОтветитьAfter the mustard patina, you may want to try a dip in instant coffee to darken the patina.
ОтветитьMicrowave the mustard and vinegar for 15 seconds next time. Huge difference.
ОтветитьSuch great tricks and shortcuts I had never seen. Thank you thumbs up and new sub!!
ОтветитьTake that handle off the angle grinder and hold it by the head.
ОтветитьCan i make this out of normal steel
ОтветитьBuen trabajo ...
ОтветитьFascinating video! Good Job.
ОтветитьHi James, You've inspired me to have a go at this. Thanks for your content, I'm now a subscriber. From Australia.
ОтветитьTEXAS REPRESENT!!!
ОтветитьGreat video thanks for sharing 👍
ОтветитьI haven't used my steel yet (1095), I notice it's starting to rust. Should I clean this rust off before starting my knife or should I just clean it up with finer grit sandpaper during?
Ответитьcool you didnt need a forge at all. looking into small diy knife making. thanks for this!
ОтветитьThis is an awesome video. I have a question though, when you are filing the blade down to the center lines do you go right to the middle of the blade? Or do you leave some product left so the blade doesn't bend when you do the quench? I am currently making my first blade, and I don't want to go to thin before quenching and warp the blade. However, I also don't want to have to much product on hand and then it would take weeks for me to hand sand it down.
ОтветитьLove the videos. I’ve been interested in knife making for years but never actually started or gathered the materials. I seen tons of “budget” starts or builds, I would be interested in more of a mid level startup/build video with a higher budget and where you should allocate funds to the best use for knife making!
ОтветитьInstead of calipers you can use a drawing compass the metal ones are like $2 just swap the pencil for a nail wrapped in some tape.
ОтветитьA really aggressive hacksaw blade tends to work for wood scales i found(takes a little bit but I feel its precise)
ОтветитьI cannot begin to express the gratitude for this video! I will begin making knives with my youngest brother very soon & as much as I want to get all the GOOD gear and I will eventually I have an itch to start as soon as possible, and this gave me so many good ideas to get going! Unfortunately, the "pretty" fence my girl wanted for our new place took priority and that is OK, safety for our pup comes first!! Long story still long, THANK YOU R-B-O ! The very end of the video killed me, thought it came out great but much respect for showing us newbies the realities, pros and cons of knife making in this aspect!!! You are awesome!
ОтветитьI want to know what the respirator is called and where you got it
ОтветитьA coffee can oven is way cheep an very easy to make
ОтветитьWhat steel did you use?
Ответитьyou are the best
ОтветитьThanks for sharing. I knew there had to be a way to make a blade without spending a fortune. Not sure if my elbows can handle all that hand sanding but I’ll give it a try.
ОтветитьAs of right now, the cheapest Mr Volcano forge is only $30 more expensive than the torch. Might be a better option, especially for only an extra $30
