vfx was breathtaking

Okay so the problem I have with digital effects is that it is all too 'cut and paste'. I am not denying they look incredible and the appreciate the skills involved but but in the day, when it was all analog/practical, time and money was the ruling factor so they were constraint by that. Now they can simply cut and paste effects here and there I feel they can be way over used to often.

8.6 million hours to render? Is that a hyperbole or simply a typo?

This would've been like the best movie ever made if it had a solid script.

They did not fix it.

As can be seen, ILM held up their end of the ever increasing quality of production. That's it.

The shot flying through all the ships and turning around should have been in the movie!

But 8.4 million hours to render the ships is 958 years. I know they worked on this movie a while but not that long surely

As much as the story sucked, the cgi is absolutely out of this world amazing

I seriously can't believe they made you add dirt to Rey!? I had no idea that was added in post. I guess make-up took a day off.

This movie had so many visual effects that were great, I hope to recreate them in a diorama one day. .. one day.

It's a shame that all this insane skill and talent goes to waste on terrible films like this one.

The visual effects are interesting for the final battle, but I think the scenario should have been better.

Today I thought about the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park and the feeling of magic and wonder that they gave me as a kid.
Watching this still amazes me and I get tears in my eyes! This is so incredible!

Thank you so much you guys for making the little kid in me smile for over 30 years now.

visually resurrecting actors is wrong imo, i know they used old records from episode 7 on here but i still dont like it

Even with a difficult story, ILM always pulls it off

Imagine having this amount of detail in the game

Where's the bloody Star Wars,cause all of these is not.When you trying to make a movie from an original trilogy,you first need to know how to make the movies look as original as the first sequels and not make them shittier than already shitty movies

All that fuss about digidoubles, just to realize that it's a cheap comp trick you could do in after effects in about 2 hours.

Interesting choices of CG scattered throughout. They opted to add dirt with CG onto Ridley instead of makeup. And Babu could’ve easily been a puppet instead they made it with CG trying especially hard to look like a puppet (from the limited motion to its jerkiness).

When the visual effects are the only interesting in the film....
In the old days, the visual effect was a tool that told a story. Now the visual effect is the story.

So much work for such a terrible movie... :(
