So, I can buy a Threadripper now, but can't buy a motherboard yet? Do we have any timelines on any these motherboards?

This may be a bit outdated, but gigabyte first had vision and aero, but aero was for creator oriented laptops. Now every creator thingy they make is consolidated under the aero moniker. That being said the display in has been a feature since z490 boards iirc. You connect your display tablet there. Vision link is the name of their tech.

The JHL8540 thunderbolt controller to support video over thunderbolt would require the video source if not onboard video to provide the video. This is the reason for the DP input. Given intel attitudes on use of a separate cable, the port may lack thunderbolt markings, while the manual may be carefully crafted to imply non logo certified thunderbolt is in fact present.

Isn't this just encompassing the daisy-chain wiring in the plastic fan housing itself? Seems like a weak Patent imo.

I want a threadripper motherboard where I can install 4 modern graphics cards. Two top of the line, and two mid-range.

I wonder how prices and features will work out,
looking at ASUS Z790 ProArt vs ASUS WS W790 ACE, price difference isn't that huge for what extra you get

Please change the highlights in the graphics from a translucent grey to a translucent red or green .. it can be very difficult to see (it's almost grey on "other"-grey" sometimes) and it's not like changing the color gradient costs anything. ☮

Yea regarding Supermicro, I was shocked the other day when I found a pretty old board they made that was looking a lot like the Steele series. It actually could have been from the Steele series, I can't remember atm. I didn't think they made such visually appealing boards at all.

As this was touched on this channel a little while back, will we ever be able to get Caselabs parts to switch our SMA8 cases over to the larger motherboard tray? You just can't stuff a bigger motherboard into a tray not designed for it with these cases as the tray is sunken down. At the same time, there is a lot of space in these cases, so some of us realized it was a bit foolhardy to get the smaller motherboard tray for future use a little too late. But still, nobody makes a case that can really do justice for the things this case can be used for.

There are no TRX50 boards with 8 RDIMM slots? So, I would need to invest into the WRX90 platform just to get 8 slots that even my old X399 board has.

I really wish these guys would realize that a server board doesn’t need audio or WiFi. I’d love to see one that focuses the available bandwidth purely on PCIe lanes and storage. Give it 6 USB, 10Gbit Ethernet and a SFP port. Put a power switch on the IO Plate. Now that’s a server mobo.

Supermicro's board names actually have very specific and clear meanings, it's just you need a decoder ring like AMD to understand them.

See that Gigabyte board featured here?! Compare that (cough) 'excellent 3-PCIE slot PCIe 5 TR 7000' board with the 4 years old Asus Zenith II Extreme. Shocking isn't it - that Gigabyte has been literally stripped bare !!!
--> Expect EVERY TRX50 board to be stripped bare of many features found on TRX40. AMD sends their love....and laughter ;)

What happened to ASUS - fucking over customers and needing to be quelled? Have they suddenly deserved forgiveness? I swear as long as these corporations keep offering shit up to you kiddies you just hold out your arms and say thank you sir may I have another. Who's worse, the bastards doing wrong for money or the people who buy into the Bx without any care as to where the candy came from and who had to pay the price to get you that candy? Crack heads all.

Asus QVL is a joke. The company is a joke. I have a WS board and the QVL is day one info and was never updated. Also it contradicts itself with the amount supported from the manual vs whats on their own website. Asus is junk..

Imagine how much power a heavily overclocked 7980X is going to draw? They want their board to be able to handle it. 1000W or more is very likely on LN.
Efficiency wise, I would say, no OC and undervolt can be very good for continious workstation load. You want lowest possible power/heat.
Undervoltet and underclocked I have managed one of my R9 3950X to use under 65W @fully loaded. And it still packs some compute performance. Only like 15-20% loss, at 50+% power cut. Also does wonders for longevity.

If we can have 4 DIMMS in 2 channels for consumer platforms, and previous versions of threadripper supported 8 dimms across 4 channels, why did no board partners put 8 DIMM slots on a TRX50 board? Do you think AMD pressured them to trim them down to get more buyers for threadripper pro?
