Thanks Kiki. When your earlier video came out, I realized that I had been neglecting my beauty routine too. Also. Like you, I've been doing better, not perfect, but better. Thanks for both videos.

Progress not perfection! May sound cheesy, but it's such a good rule for many things in life!

I love these real world heartfelt talks. I learn from others' challenges. I know I need easy simple and streamlined skin care and makeup/hair. I have fallen so many times off of so many wagons I no longer get shocked. Every time it's because work or family are the main priorities and my own priorities fell away. I had to learn to put on my own oxygen mask before helping others, so to speak. I started scheduling my workouts with a trainer or a gym like they were dental appointments. Not negotiable. Then I added small skincare routines that I could do before or after a shower. The main thing is sunscreen. Always and forever. The rest is gravy. Sending you love 😍

For me, walking is easier if I play a little mind game with myself. If I want to do 30 minutes, I think of it as 15 minutes, I set a timer and head out and then I turn around once it goes off and head back. Just doesn't seem the same if I think of it for 30 minutes straight. Kind of dumb, but it works. 😅

Been off my game for a bit as well, Kiki. I have been serving on a non-profit board and I think while I am busy, I am a bit too busy not enjoying my hobbies. Haven’t played my guitar for 8 months and haven’t painted in 6 months. When I do have time, I just want to sleep or zone out. But I did some retail therapy the other day and found some fun flattering clothes. It was a nice pick me up and my youngest daughter took me out for brunch today. Wore one of the new outfits and felt great. Now I am relaxing and enjoying the weather and reminding myself how fortunate I am and I have choices. Doing Beats Stewing.😊

I struggle too Kiki.
I always try to stay in routine, but sometimes I am just tired. Always love skincare and makeup!

Yay, Grace! I have a beagle, too (Molly)...13" so kind of small and about 22 lbs. I've had beagles all my life and without exercise, they can get rowdy in the house. The walks are for her, but doesn't hurt to keep me moving , too.

My hubby had a stroke and I am his only caregiver. I have totally stopped taking care of myself and that includes doing my skincare and makeup. Which I love so much! I loved what you said about being gentle with yourself. I think we need to not be afraid to put ourselves first in so many ways. Loving ourselves helps us love others more I think, too!

I like the being proud of yourself for the little things you accomplish. I read a book called The Pleasure Trap- it talks about food and evolutionary psychology and why it's so difficult to resist modern junk food- but anyway one thing that the author talks about is your internal audience and how when you make positive steps your internal audience is happy with you and it's easier to continue.

I find this concept of not doing skincare really alien. Did anyone read the book THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS? This was not in the movie, it was a thought that Clarisse had when she saw the room of the last girl taken. I read this book sometime in the 80s and the movie came out in like 1991, so a LOOONG time ago. I remember Clarisse remarking on all the skin care items of this disappeared girl who was a “large” girl (I always thought I was gigantic, I’m not, but we see things differently when we are young). Clarisse (the FBI agent, for anyone who doesn’t remember) thought to herself about the girl’s beautiful skin: “Use it!!” IOW if you’re a size 14 and have beautiful skin, use that as your best feature. Remember when Harry said Ginny had nice skin? (I don’t remember in which Harry Potter). Skin is SO important. For me it’s like brushing my teeth. I can’t go downstairs in the morning or go to sleep at night without taking care of my teeth and my skin.

I'm wondering if part of this is skin type. I think you've mentioned that your skin is on the dry side and I'm 59 but still tend to get oily. For me, washing my face is something I actually WANT to do early in the evening only because I can hardly wait to wash off that feeling of oiliness! This is just a theory but my guess is I would be more like you if my skin was drier. My sense is you're doing everything right and feeling less motivated now and then is perfectly natural!

I feel your walk connumdrum. I’ve had recent success with walking daily, but not lengthy routes. Choosing frequency over distance is really working for me. The task seems less imposing. It also helps when temps rise and I can’t tolerate the heat. A shorter walk fits more easily into mornings on hot days.

I love these sessions, Kiki. They resonate so much. I recently came across an article about Revenge Bedtime Procrastination and it so makes sense. There is also something about the female experience 55+ that is deep and real and sharing about it helps tremendously. And for whatever it’s worth, here’s my contribution to the post-it self coaching:
Your mindset while in the wilderness determines how long you stay there.

Kiki, thank you for talking about this subject. I think we all have experienced feeling like this. The fact that you feel proud, even little things, is good for positive reinforcement. We are our own biggest critics. I have to work on that. My therapist always tells me, "You need to be kinder to your Inner Child".
😊

I’m glad you’re feeling better. I try not to be so hard on myself and if I’m in a slump and feeling tired and low energy I just stay home and heal and watch movies, read a good book and fix myself something healthy to eat. A walk and doing my daily affirmations also helps. We all have these times but it’s important to remember that we are human and we often fall ill and I just go with it and take a break from my busy life. Sometimes life sucks but it can also be great. Hope that helps! ❤

Thank you for sharing Kiki. I have an alarm ⏰ on my phone to ring every day at 10:00 pm to wash my face, jut in case I fall asleep. If I don’t do that I feel so bad about myself. This is like a night routine for me and gets me ready for sleep. Take care Kiki ❤🌹

Hi. Might you have Lyme disease? Many people have it and don't know. Took my sister a year to get a diagnosis. Could just be a bug tbough. Or maybe SIBO in the gut? Blessings to you in healing! I like the face info I get from your talks.

Thank you for sharing. We all go through different phases, for whatever reason. And no phase lasts forever. That's what I always tell myself when I'm going through a difficult phase. It helps! And it's true, no phase lasts forever.
I could never go to bed with makeup or sunscreen on. No matter what time it is or what state I'm in. My bed is my clean space, I want to go to bed with a clean face and body. That's important to me, so I don't think about it, I just do it. Wish you all the best and enjoy your videos.

Thank you for sharing. So much resonated with me. I have entirely dropped off my skin routine - something that has been so beneficial to me- not just skin deep as they say. I’m 67, and have gotten so many compliments on my skin- that boosts my confidence all around. I take pride in what I do for me. It just seems that last few months have been even a struggle either everything. It has coincided with some health issues and just not feeling like myself. To hear another woman echo almost everything im currently feeling helped me so much today. Thank you for the support, advice, helpful hints and suggestions in turning those negative feelings around. Hope the tummy gets better!
