Painting Trees in Watercolour - Part I

Excellent tutorial covering much more than just trees, particularly like tips on the overall structure and watercolour techniques.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have just started to learn how to try and paint with water colour. Your paintings and style is so interesting. When I look at your finished work it is brilliant and intimidating to a beginner. Then you deconstruct the images which makes it feel doable. With each part you can see the different skills you are using. I have so much to learn and I thank you for your skills and style, which for a beginner like me is so approachable. Now I need to keep practising. But already I feel my walks in nature are becoming more mindful as I take time to look at the objects around me

Wonderful video

I have been following your tutorials for over a fortnight now and been using it n my paintings . I have seen 2 full. Ideas this being my second. Have been painting for almost 9 months on my own watching many tutorials. But your tutorials are absolutely brilliant . You teach in a manner that not only has my painting improved by a few thousand percent in the last fortnight. Thank you . But you have made me want to learn it welll and will for the next couple of month practise from all your tutorials and improve my painting . This is so good. I have been painting for some years but from this I have learned so much. The main thing? Anchor your trees. Brilliant advice for someone who sort of did this but didn't know why, or really, how to do it properly. Thank you Oliver.

I was intimidated by this medium until I watched this video. I painted a tree per your instruction and my friend loved it. So, now I am now going to watch all of your videos!! Thanks again!
