In SwSh, Genesect flies like that when above water as well.

Maybe they tried to follow the Stadium route of "certain pokemon have unique animations for certain moves" but it didn't made the cut, either for consistency, to mantain the fights fast paced or they just didn't get the time as never tried agin since.

Doesn't Genesect use its flying form in Sword and Shield?

Yeah since seeing fan animations for Pokémon, I’ve been soured with almost everything they’ve put out. Also what’s up with people crying over calling it X? Like who cares that it’s owned by a different billionaire, neither ever cared about you or the platform

Important context that the user you mentioned CREATED those animations by hand, and that these were not latent in the game files

Okay but the Golurk, Genesect, and Excadrill animations make me want transformers-style toys of those mons where you can flip them between their normal appearance and a drill/hoverboard/cannon
I bet there are other mons that could work with this idea too
