Unlike your favorite Cheetos, Raptor Lake CPUs apparently don't have to be Flaming Hot....unless the motherboard says so. And different motherboards do different things. This seems to come up with MCE discussions on every Intel generation....so what are your thoughts on it? Shenanigans or "spec"?

I had a msi Z690 motherboard fucked up. because of 12 gen i700k processor. There has been problem with thermals the pc would randomly turn off.
Now motherboard went to warrenty waiting for new motherboard.

One year later... the only time I wish I had a 360mm instead of a 240mm with my new 14700KF is ... in all-core, full load benchmarks like Cinebench. The 240 I have will deal with about 230, 235W of power/heat while keeping temps just out of truly scary territory. Like low 90°C package temp.
In all other scenarios I've encountered so far (mostly gaming), the 240 has no problem keeping the CPU cool - and things don't even get that loud. Stock settings on my board (MSI Z690 Tomahawk) are pretty much all "no limits" and produced amounts of heat in CB23 that would probably overwhelm most 360 AiOs. CB23 and 2024 produced peak power draw of over 300W while other benchmarks gave me up to 340W of super short term peak power.
Intel's XTU too will recommend power-settings (PL1/2 = 300W, ICCMax = 400A) that let the CPU run way too hot. I had to reduce those and MSI's auto-VCore offset ("CPU Lite Load") to avoid crazy temperatures and power-draw.

You didn't explain AT ALL what I'm supposed to do when I buy my 14900k (13900k), and what setting I'm supposed to turn off. Does anyone know how I get it so its not going to 100c, what do I turn off specifically, what motherboards should I avoid?

This video was essentially useless in answering any of the really important questions, other than busting the power myth.

in my experience with the 13900k so far, sure cinebench or prime95 almost immediately hit 100 degrees...but unless you're doing something that requires a load like that it isn't an issue at all...if you're just a gamer/basic windows user with a decent cooling setup you should hit 60-70 degrees tops...that's what maxed out cyberpunk tells me at least!

I'm impressed with what AMD managed to give us on 5000 series and latest AGESA. Under-volting became extremely easy, Curve Optimizer -30 points (which means -0,90 ~ 0,150mv), works perfectly. The voltage almost never goes above 1,2V. It works smartly, giving the appropriate cores the speed while it keeps the rest, down. Efficient AF while you get 100% of its capabilities for most things a simple user does on PC, gaming included. Games don't use all cores at max either. Let alone we're mostly GPU limited anyway. Happy camper here. 5600X was my first AMD CPU ever, since my first PC (Intel 486 DX II).

I am not sure how you are getting these temperatures on Coolers with core i9 13900k and liquid cooler too. but for me a core i9 13900K without any limitation was going 100 degrees max on Cinebench with Average at 95 degrees (after 15 minutes).
Although when stopped comes back instantly to 63-65 degrees and then later to 45. I am using a liquid freezer II 360-A RGB. The point being is that
I was able to cool it down to Average 85 and Max 89 Degrees by
DownFrequency Pcores -> 51 instead of 58
DownFrequency Ecores -> 35 instead of 43
This also has power watts cap automatically to : 229-252Watts)

This makes IDLE temperature : 37-43 Degrees
Under Gaming 1080p Exteme Settings Warzone: 71-82 (Average 75 or less)

Very informative trying to decide between the 12600 and 13600 while looking at a 210w TDP low profile cooler and wondering if the 13600 would get too hot. If it normally 135w I should be ok. My current 12400F using a 125W low profile averages in the upper 50s in gaming.

I was thinking about dropping a 13900KF into my Strix B660 but I was worried about the cooling since I have a (good) 240mm AIO. I feel a lot better about it now, especially since I won't (or can't) overclock and I'm only running DDR4 anyway (which I assume is a slight tax on how much work the CPU does...not really sure).

Great video. Glad I found you guys.

I have a specific and short question.
I have recently installed CORSAIR H150 360mm Liquid water AIO cooler for Intel 13th generation I9 13900K processor?

Only 2 feedbacks needed:

1. How long can this AIO liquid water cooler run, even if my kids game at maximum whole day ?
2. Secondly how is it for Intel 13th generation I9 13900K processor?

Do you think that a Thermalright like an Assassin King or X ( single Fan cooler from Thermalright ) can handle well a 13600K for common tasks, browsing and some "light" games ? I don't usually play any heavy games, neither Video encoder's or Photo edition, so im not gonna reach 80/90/100% CPU usage many times. Or should I really need to go to a Dual Fan cooler ?

Just built a 13900K system, using a Noctua 12A Chroma Max Black. Set PL to Gigabytes "Intel +" setting (forget the actual name, but it's between intel default and "all out") and with a .070 undervolt I run 5.5 on P cores and 4.3 on e cores all day long and bounce around the high 70's low 80's. No thermal or PL throttling.

Strangely enough, my 13600K will suck back over 200W and hit temps of 100°C periodically during intense stress tests (Prime95 for example). This is with an MSI motherboard, which apparently likes to juice the CPU quite hard on stock settings, for no good reason.

I would like to clarify about Raptor PL1 = PL2
"Processor Base Power 125" & "Maximum Turbo Power 253".
On my mobo asrok PL1 =125 is installed automatically, but not immediately when you turn it on. I think this is a bug anyway. But the fact that they decided for some reason to make undervolt protection for vcore unplugable is already idiocy. 13700KF outputs 245 w package in cinebench r23 at full stock (5280 mhz if bclk 99.8). I tried 2 variants for comparison: limiting the TDP to 180 and reducing the multiplier to 5.1. The second option turned out to be preferable for me, since in games the performance per watt increased by an average of 20%, and in multithreaded load the performance was higher. Btw, 102.5 bclk gives a very decent boost here.
Peace.
