What Is the Sin of Gluttony?

Too much of anything is bad.
Moderation is the key.
Buddhas philosophy of middle path.

Why am I not delivered from Glutttony? I fast, pray, and call out to God daily. I live in Him. it makes no sense?

This was great, I love how you said gluttony is about Quantity, Quality, When and Why and not just the Quantity and I love how you said towards the end, today, say no to something and I had planned to finish up the chips in my cupboard as some sort of farewell snack since I'm starting my journey to no gluttony tomorrow, these farewell snacks are a habit I've done over many failed diets in the past, but as you said that I said my no will now start immediately and not tomorrow.

Guilt is becoming dependent and wanting more. More food. More material objects. More acts of physical satisfaction. In most cases what one discovers after they have exhausted all of this is -- the psychology needs to be isolated in order to identify it or else you stay lost not knowing how to stop. That I think is the turning point. My point is if you are able to isolate and identify don't make the mistake of leading. That is when you get in big trouble.

We have to understand these corps make fake food. Eat what God wants us to eat. Remember Daniel asked the guard to let them only eat fruits and veggies for 10 days and after those ten days they where more healthy and energetic then those who eat the kings food, Swine sweets and spirits💯

I thought gluttony definition changed multiple times over two millennia and the original meaning at the time of christ would have had to do with cleaning a dead body And a proper burial... somebody back me up here 😅

I agree with this definition of gluttony as a lack of temperance and self-control but a point of philosophy on the delayed gratification experiment. Thought it was never demonstrated in the experiment. It could've been possible that a child could have taken the treat immediately, not wanting or needing two treats later.

I have been wondering, if anybody can help me, I am a teenager and I am always super hungry, or at least I feel that way. I try to be disciplined but sometimes i cant tell if i really should eat or if its sinful. usually in these situations i go the safe route and just dont eat but i just have this crazy appetite. if anyone has any input i would totally appreciate it🙏

I had a really bad eating habit.. i ate a lot of fatty fastfood and because i felt sick afterwars i always smoked weed to feel better in the stomach... Im one month clean after 12 Year's and im just now recognizing all those sins... Wow

The struggle is real! I have an overeating addiction. I've lost a lot of weight in the last year, with a little bit more to go. But when I'm at my goal, it's going to be a battle!

Religion........any religion for the human race is FLAWED! They have secrets' kept from the human race! This is all I need to debunk any religion on this planet! If you (can not) say it like it is! Then the words out of your mouth is a Lie! Something A LOT OF HUMANS do not understand and wish to be guided from others who say so! What's right or wrong ? Who can handle the truth? Weak minds do need help? Which stone carving should you believe? What Bible or text is correct or wrong in any religion! DO I go on others faith even though they might bend the rule a little? I don't need a written text from folks who seem to fail miserably in there teachings and lessons'. it can be any religion out there! For the love of HUMANITY folks! We used nukes on our own human beings! We killed for religion! We killed folks for how an egg should be cracked open in their country. Some one supposedly stole the tablets of god! (AKA Ten Commandments'......I will let you know if they are just what they claimed was written! When I see them for myself ? Were they followers of god who took them? Gonna keep it short.....I will leave you all to ponder this before you comment on the general stuff you may rebuttal too. I am wondering how gluttony relating to food would have been hundreds of years ago? The reason i am asking is that the process of obtaining and storing food was much more difficult.

It's interesting that Thomas Aquinas called gluttony the most disgraceful of all vices. He became so obese that table ha his place at table had to be cut away in the semicircle so that he could reach the food.

Processed foods (like Doritos) are carefully engineered in a laboratory (using large amounts of fat, sugar, salt & chemical food additives) to be as addictive and as hard to stop eating as possible so they make more money. That it is extremely unhealthy for you doesn't matter to the processed food makers. I normally cook whole foods & avoid processed foods. I don't tend to want to overeat whole foods (i.e. REAL food). When I overeat, it's almost always processed/junk food.

This video popped up in my newsfeed just exactly when I need it. I'm a stress eater and turn to junk food whenever I'm sad or depressed and sometimes reject something (food mainly) just because it's not upto whatever I was expecting. I'm also heavily addicted to the phone and I just knew I need to stop somewhere and think about these addictions. Just then, this video appeared! Praise the Lord! Also bleed Fr. I say NO to eating sometimes, because even though I get hungry, I know that maintaining my correct athletic weight, I am able to get around more easily, climb steps, run, etc., and It's a joyful thing. then I have a meal, and I have more energy to go play sports.

I have a lot that gives me a thing about Clean Water to my people but I am not for other peoples Languages to make things better with out understanding of My Ethiopia and my Africa!

I have an issue with alcohol addiction and it's very difficult to understand because I don't feel like it's enough for me to just say "no" for a while... I feel like it's so bad I need to say "no" forever because I can't control the use of it.
