Episode 223: What to do with freebie seekers on your mailing list?
In this episode we discuss how to deal with people who are only interested in your freebies but not so much on your newsletter.
The purpose of a lead magnet is to get people to sign up. It should attract people who love your content. Yes, it should be consistent with your values and art - but lead magnets are about THEM, not about you.
Shock and awe high value stuff is what you need for your lead magnet.
ANYTHING that involves freebies - especially high value things - will attract freebie-seekers. The trick is not to get bogged down worrying about them. Do two things:
1. Purge your list. Strip out the people who signed up for the free stuff and haven't opened an email in six months. (Six months is a good benchmark, btw.)
2. Realize that, by having a very compelling lead magnet, you will attract BOTH more good customers AND freebie seekers. The net benefit and net gain will go up, even though the volume of freebie seekers will also go up.
