Thirty years ago, after I obtained my degree from a university in the United States, then worked on an H1 visa for three years before getting my green card. Currently, those who have obtained a degree from universities in the United States not only need a H1 but also a lottery to obtain a green card, while the border open to illegal immigration. In the past, south american immigrants were allowed to enter illegally because they helped with jobs that Americans wont do. That kept the wages/inflation low and made money for wealthy folks.
