ОтветитьWhat was the abandoned bunker used for? It would have helped to have had some information about it.
ОтветитьI grew up along the Montana highline, and frequented Alberta, Canada many times. Wonderful people, and a beautiful province.
ОтветитьThank you so much for showing these amazing places! They seem to have the most unique, quiet charm.
So remote and most of all on the other side of the world, I will likely never see them or anything in Alberta in person, so thanks even more for sharing them with the world!
Thank you ,very interesting ❤
ОтветитьI live in Germany and lived in Mississauga/Ontario for about one year. I just love the unique beauty of Canada! 🇨🇦 When I see places like that I try to imagine how it must’ve been to live there back then when it was just built. Must’ve been rough but super peaceful! Must’ve been people with great values and morals.
ОтветитьExcessive advertisements.😂
ОтветитьI grew up In bindloss town
ОтветитьExcellent
ОтветитьThreshing machines ; not combines
ОтветитьYes ; thank you. I’m sick of the inflated prices where I live ( Saltspring is)
ОтветитьGoogle Earth imagery from 2018 shows a cut of 15 rail cars at the Skiff siding.
thats the newest imagery though and i dont live close enough to go check if they still use those rails 🤣
I sure hope they do! by the looks of the shiny rails in your video i am inclined to think so! Being that shiny it must have been not super long ago ether! It's encouraging evidence!
Great vid btw! All awesome footage and a nice tour! Thanks for posting!
I absolutely loved this!! You are an amazing tour guide and love how respectful you are to private property etc. You narration is perfect as well. Please do more of these! 😁
ОтветитьFascinating, why were these places abounded, and the railways removed in many places? Was it because the land did not support small communities as larger more efficient opearations took over the farming business?
ОтветитьEnjoy your efforts immensely. Thank you
ОтветитьHi look up the ishayas ascension
ОтветитьYou should have shown any businesses that are still in operation.
ОтветитьThx, interesting stuff…..hard to imagine all this abandoned….
ОтветитьRemember when RALPH KLEIN was in power.....and Alberta was running without any DEFICITS-DEBT the envy of the rest of Canada.....What has happened since????
Ответитьwow😮😮😮 beautiful 😍 not so deserted town❤😅❤sure like to live in that kind of environment 😊😊❤far far from the maddening crowd😊❤❤❤😊
ОтветитьWhy and how these towns became Ghost Town ?????
Ответитьdelightful
ОтветитьAtlas mine operated 1936 -1979.
ОтветитьI actually live in Altario which is somewhat of a ghost town and it is actually around 30 mins away from Esther!
ОтветитьThe old combines you referred to were called threshing machines. They were stationary and the wheat was brought to them and fed through the machine to separate the wheat grains from the chaff. The small railway car was motorized and could carry a few workers at about 50 km /hr
ОтветитьMy mother's birth certificate read Bindloss. She was born in 1918.
ОтветитьI love Empress, have thought so many times on buying there.
ОтветитьEnjoyed the video Ghost Towns of Alberta . Wondering why the Museum was not shown inside as its fantastic and they need the business.?
ОтветитьHi there from New Zealand. 2002 I was fortunate to be in Calgary as part of an indigenous gathering. I was so taken away by the vastness of the place and the seemingly endless highways in comparison to my home. I was also able to visit Banff ski resort and lake district. It was truly quite an experience. I only wish I could've visited places like this as well, so sad. Thank you for sharing. Tena koe.
ОтветитьWhat a great video! Really enjoyed your coverage!! ❤
ОтветитьI thought I would see Wrentham on the list but I think there are more than 25 people living there. It had a bit of a resurgence when I was last through there about 10 years ago. My family lived there back in the sixties. My mom was a teacher at the school, and I was a lad of 8. Grades 1 to 8 or 9 were taught with kids of different grades in the same room. I believe there were two teachers at the school and a principal who probably also taught. The high schoolers bussed to Warner for school. My mom has passed and my dad has dementia so no help there.
ОтветитьI'm one from of the few from Bindloss, AB. The school was shut down in 2012, not the 90's. The Insurance building stated was the post office. Do research! instead of stating things like fact. I could go on about the other small towns...
ОтветитьCame across by chance and was facinated by these "Dark Tower" places and attitude of locals to the history.
ОтветитьThis video really touched my heart. All the aerial shots really made me feel this overwhelming sense of these places being my home. So nostalgic.
ОтветитьI've lived in southern Alberta for my whole life, i never really knew that there are this many ghost towns this close to me. It makes sense though I've been out to where the town of whiskey gap used to be, there's maybe two houses that are still out there. Makes me want to see what it's like out there at night.
ОтветитьCan we buy a house there
Ответитьhow come there arent any for british columbia
coward
cia plant
Thank you for sharing this ! Great content ! Still can feel the soul of those places !
Ответитьthere's a few haunted houses in Lethbridge ;)
ОтветитьHotel and bar in Empress shut down around 2010ish, i shot darts, played pool and drank a few beers and ate some pizza in that place
ОтветитьBindloss school closed down in the early 2000’s I remember playing mini basketball and volleyball in that school. They still use the school as a community center there
ОтветитьAtlas coal mine does A Haunted coal mine tour for halloween. It's pretty cool
ОтветитьSeeing those gas station lights in Bindloss, I realized, once again, that this is how knowledge is lost. That picture might last another 100 years, but the people who know what these relics of the past are, may be gone.
You may say, 'Everything is digital, it will last forever.' That's great as long as someone around still understands the language. The Egyptians might have something to say about that.
Someone school me here: are the big brains really, really, sure we have the hieroglyphics figured out?
The video is very interesting. I can see you have put a lot of work into putting this video together. With all due respect, I would suggest refining your narration voice over. Other than that, wonderful overview of some prairies history! 👏 🇨🇦
ОтветитьHope to see more railroad back in Canada. A functional network would be really nice for transportation compared to uncomfortable flights, and revive some of these rural locations.
ОтветитьRowley, Alberta was featured in Still Standing, a CBC show.
ОтветитьI live in Ontario and rode my motorcycle all over eastern and southern Ontario. It is the same story here, small towns are shrinking as younger residents move to the city and the reason for those small towns disappears.
ОтветитьI went to college with one of the family members of Esther.
