It's not a shortcut. Just a double box. It takes about the same amount of time to go down the hole, cross the area down there and launch from the cannon as it does to take those corners.

i agree, watching the first part, it seems like you could hack some time off. But like you said, there is an element of luck. Of course, you do have all the tools you need to do it, it just takes that one good run.

I wish Mario Kart Wii & DS had All Cup. Well, not ALL the tracks at once. Possibly a cup for all the new ones and a cup for all the old ones.

If you're in mid drifting and you have the room, dodging red shells is nothing.

The reason he's so fast is a mix of snaking plus also using a kart with one of the best stats (especially for off road). Also on straights, timing multiple fast A presses every second means you travel slightly faster than by just holding A, since you're constantly accelerating. He didn't use that in this run I don't think since he just snaked everywhere. Props to him for such speed though. If only there were a way to consistently dodge blue shells...
