Pyro's Most Underrated Weapon

I love the Detonator, I find it a good average between the Scorch Shot's braindeadness and the Flare Gun's absurd skillshots. With a bit of timing I can detonate the shot and deal aoe damage 😮

Because there is a very big thing left out. Pyro flames range depend son how much velocity you have. Meaning you also gain range if you shoot while detonator jumping so the bomb/ambush style cans tart it's pain sooner than arrival

I was already a detonator user but I was always confused why my jumps never felt as fast as what I see in videos. Never knew u can manually explode the detonator manually despite having 4k hours. Thx

Here's the thing, everyone, and I mean, EVERYONE HATES, pyro. EXCEPT for pyro players. You basically get to be THAT douche bag, and in that way not even scout can recreate. A lime scout with the FaN blasting the song 'Intruder alert' may be a menace, but pyro can fuck everyone over in ways unique to him. Large enough health pool to not get 1shot quick scoped by sniper, afterburn is a middle finger that assures post mortem kills and stuffs every plan spies and snipers could have. The flares let you be a menace at longer distances, the scorch shot is an eff you to all classes except for heavy since, he has health to spare and is already slow. His melees enable you to do all sorts of wacky shite like crit people after airblasting them into a puddle for 195. Be self sufficient and let medic pocket someone else. Get to places your not suppose to be even FASTER. Pyro is a combination scout and spy. Just fast and mobile enough to get behind people, and has all the tools to make a situation TERRIBLE for anyone they catch off guard.

My det kills actually make up like 20% of my pyro kills due to long range pokes and it is a great way to fight other pyros. When both deal essentially equal damage at close range no matter skill, it is great to airblast then poke to make eye for an eye a better trade.

Just a tip. Learn the detonator first. Its a good tip to deal with all crutches actually.

My current keyboard is just a repurposed Alphasmart, which is one of those "oh, you wanted to hold down more than # number of keys at a time? Hee. Cute~" keyboards. So the basic bitch detonator jump's plenty for me. X3

Elmaxo, if you stan anything that gives additional movement, then... you may want to rethink your hatred of the Scorch Shot as it allows Pyro to get up ledges that cannot be normally crouch jumped onto, or cross gaps that cant be normally jumped across. Albeit the jump isn't huge, but it IS noticeable when Flare Jumping.

Detonator and backburner is my go to for jumpscaring poor medics

As a spy main, I too hatge pyros.

I find the manmelter to be more like a sidegrade to the Flare gun.
You get unlimited ammo, gain ability to extinguish fire from your teammate BY ABSORBING THE FIRE to store a crit shot.

this phrase also applies to the x100 beggars bazooka.
Do not be deceived by the fireworks this weapon creates. those 300 rockets you just loaded into your rocket launcher are incapable of killing an afk spy at point-blank. in fact, due to math, forwards is the LEAST likely direction the rockets are going to be firing. I haven't tried point-blank but facing the opposite direction while on top of them though so maybe that works.
