Meathead is a commie.

The moral "ambivalence of this movie is what makes it so remarkable. What people don't realize is that both Cruise, as the prosecutor & Nicholson as Jessup are both "good guys" in this story. It's just that Col Jessup, while doing what he thought necessary to maintain the integrity of his command, also had to take full responsibility for his "failures" as a leader.

I know nothing about movie making but I always assumed they would have multiple cameras shooting the different actors during each take and then splice it together in editing.

Why would you want him to “save it” for his close up!?…. An actor should give the same performance each take! That way you get better reactions from the other actors which will equal a better movie overall!

RR is such a good director, despite his political freak show persona.

A very well-written monologue was the perfect tool a genius actor needed for that masterpiece scene.

I saw that movie in the Philippines prior to going to desert storm with a theater full of jarheads, to this day it brings that sense of nostalgia. Ironically enough I also saw FMJ sitting left over right in third phase of boot camp, July of 89, I don’t think the movie was even out yet.

One of, if not the worst edits of a movie from the opening scene through the trial. If you are going to tell a story with flashbacks then don't do like this movie.

With the budgets that films like this have, why wouldn't you just have the multiple cameras that you have all rolling simultaneously and capturing everything at once???

Great movie, some of the best performances by the entire cast. Seen it many times and never get tired of it.
